Kosovo to Sarajevo via Montenegro
Hi all,
I'm taking a solo adventure on my new Africa Twin from Athens through Macedonia/FYROM, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia, back to Montenegro, then Albania and back to Athens. The only part of the trip I'm a little worried about is getting from Kosovo to Sarajevo via northern Montenegro. On the way back I'll take a more coastal route before getting to Albania. Here's a link to the route, I hope it works. Does anyone have any experience with this route? I know Durmitor is supposed to be stunning. But what about the road from the Kosovo border to Zabljak before that? And from other posts I've seen, the border crossing from Peja to Rozaje should be easy to cross. Any tips or links to more info is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :scooter: |
Excellent choice. There is nothing to be worried about. Ride carefully and you will enjoy. Buy a "Green card" from your insurance company or something similar which will cover you and you will not have to buy insurance on border crossings.
Petre Ps I will include Kravice waterfalls and Trebinje. |
You could consider to take the route via Foca - Gorazde to Sarajevo and include the Eastern former Bosnian railroad (gravel track through a spectacular gorge. With old (dark) railway tunnels.:funmeterno:

You will enjoy the ride.
Durmitor is great, very scenic, I was there just before last Christmas. Doing the Tara Gorge and Lake Susicko is good There are a lot of photos on my RR (link in the signature block), also the routes I took, if you fancy a look. I also put routes and google earth shots. Feel free to leave a comment if you look bier There is nothing to be worried about in Northern Montenegro, there is a camp site in Pulzine which I stayed in I took a really good route from Prozor to Mostar in Bosnia, a mix of gravel and hard roads, through forests and mountains. Sarajevo was a great city, I stayed for 3 nights in an Airbnb, a ride out to Skakavac Falls is nice A plus one for what ccaa has said, Kravice waterfalls and Trebinje are worth a visit I am envious as its a great area If you do read my RR and have any questions let me know, if i can answer them I will Wayne |
Thanks for the info, everyone! I had to modify my trip slightly so won't make it to Bosnia this trip, however, I'm hoping to be able to make it later this year so this info is all very helpful! Will PM for routes.
Yesterday I drove Skopje-Prizren through the Sharr Mountains/National Park. I didn't get off the road at all, but still my jaw was resting on my gas tank for the entire 90 min or so. Gorgeous part of the world. |
KTiM, could I also trouble you for the details of the route via Foca - Gorazde to Sarajevo that includes the eastern former Bosnian railroad please?

No problem.
