Iran to Nepal without Carnet de Passage
Hey guys! I've read dozens of topics recently about bringing my own bike into Iran. And as far as I'm consirned I need like a 500% The Carnet de Passage.
But then I though about buying a small bike in Iran and bringing it in to Pakistan. And I found a topic that said that I need to proof that I'll cone back to Iran afterwards and sell it where I bought it. So here are my thoughts. What if I buy the bike in Iran and on the border with Pakistan I'll show them my return ticket home from Tehran? Ok. Possibly they will believe me (coz it won't be an actuall ticket but a booking of one). The I'll ride all the way to Lahore. But then there I'll fase The Indian customes. And what if I also showe theme a return ticket but now from Lahore back home (changing my Iranian bike number to a Pakistani on a black market) will it work? Thanks |

Hey, this is just my personal opinion .. and call me an old-fashioned idiot if you want, but here's some friendly advice from someone, amongst many others on this forum, who have been there .. and done that: Please .. please do not look for ways to 'fiddle the system'. I respectively suggest that you observe all the local laws and regulations of every country you intend to pass through; just as you would expect - possibly even demand - that the laws of your own country are observed and obeyed by foreign nationals visiting your land. Asking this forum for ways to come-up with a 'scheme', from outset, to lie and cheat your way through international borders .. by deliberately attempting to scam overseas' authorities, will just make it all the more difficult for the rest of us who follow in your tracks and footsteps. And always remember, when travelling abroad, you are an ambassador for your country (.. if that means much to you.) . |
False plates, made-up documents, etc..... frankly, I don´t think anybody will be able to say for sure, whether it would work for you or not. The only way to actually know, is to try. Personally, I would give it a miss, because I´m never looking to get into serious trouble with the authorities (which is certainly what will follow, if you do get busted).
Also a good point, that some trying to cheat their way through, is just likely to make it even harder for the majority of travellers, whose plates & documents are okay. Besides, I don´t think they´ll let any foreign motorcycle into India without a carnet, so that´ll also need to be made up then I guess. (Just my 0.02 of course). |
We NEVER recommend such illegal activities, and we certainly won't give you advice on how to do it - if you get caught, they are likely to toss you in jail for smuggling, and that can be a long time in a very unpleasant jail.
Play it smart and do it legally. |

Do you imagine you can swap your fake Pakistani plate for a fake Indian plate, and swap fake registration papers somewhere between the border stations of Pakistan and India, and get away with it??? There might be ways to do things illegally, but they are generally a little smarter than this. |

I agree with Grant and others 110%. Guys like rakamadur make it difficult for others. In my opinion only a fool thinks everyone else is. |
