Iran - Is it possible for Brits?

I'm planning a trip from the UK to India by bike. Is it possible to cross Iran to the Pakistan border? I have a British passport but, even with the improving diplomatic situation, would I require to join an 'organised tour'? Or get an official guide? Has anyone with a UK, US, or Canadian passport managed to ride across Iran through to Pakistan recently? If so how did you do it? Guide? Tour? Advice would be gratefully received.

Not heard of anyone having to go on an organised tour or with a guide in Iran before, that would kind of suck anyway. I didn't have to do either in 2008.

When I did it (coming from Australia back to UK - I am a UK citizen), I got my visa approval number from Iran Visa Application - Iranian Visa (evisa) while on the road in India and picked up my visa in Quetta. (Incidentally the guy behind the counter in Quetta didn't even ask for the visa approval number, nor did the application form request it..but when I mentioned it, he told be to scribble it on the top of the form. I got my visa the following day).

Pakistan visa was a little harder as the Pakistan Consulates I tried in Malaysia/Thailand all said I needed to get it from my home country, which was obviously not possible. I eventually got it in Kathmandu. I also needed to get a 'Letter of No Objection' from a UK Consulate which I also got in Nepal.

The special requirements for US, UK and CA citizens have been covered a number of times already on the HUBB. The Wikipedia entry on Iran's visa policy sums it up concisely and correctly:
Quote:

British, Canadian and American citizens are required to be escorted by a government approved guide at all times. Independent travel for these citizens has been banned since March 2014.
With the recent nuclear accord things might change in the future, but I would not count on that any time soon.
