HELP NEEDED!!! Carnet and other - IRAN, INDIA, PAKISTAN.

I really need you help.
So we are on our tour around the world, and at this point we are in the Georgia (place by the black sea). We are willing to move trough Iran, Pakistan and India, but we do have so many questions about CARNET? Have anyone had any late experience about this ? Do we must buy it ? What is the cost and cheapest way ? Do you always receive money back ? Is there any other way ? Are there any other bureaucracy related expenses ? Do we have to worry about anything else besides CARNET and VISAS? What about letter of invitation ?

I have seen so many guys buying or renting Royal Enfields in India ? How that is working out ? How much does it cost to buy some kind of motorcycle in India?

We do have questions over safety as well ? What is the safest ways trough Pakistan ? Do they always support us with convoy (for all foreigners) ?

Thanks for any solid info!
Take care - ride safe.

The Carned has to be issued by the automobike accociation of the country were your vehicle is registered. It costs some money (for my 700 Euro bike 180 Euro + 3000 Euro Caution). The Caution will be returned if the bike is back in its home country http://afrikamotorrad.eu/?report=en_...te&design=dark

Because you cant cross Myanmar and Thailand has startet to make importing a bike a pain in the as too its more clever to fly to india and the asien countrys and rent bikes there for only 4 Dollars per day insted of shiping a bike around the globe: http://schoene-motorradtouren.de/?report=en_mumbai

Sorry ta-rider,

for Myanmar and Thailand a "Carnet de passage" is senseless - they do not accept it, beccause the authorities dont know, what it is.
And no - you do not have to bring your vehicle back home to get the deposit back. You can leave it elsewhere and maybe you have to wait 1 or 2 years to get the money back (selfmade expirience from 2014 in Myanmar and Thailand with a "german" CDP from ADAC-Munich - Board the World )

Greetings
Ferdi

True Myanmar and Thailand dont need a Carned but Iran does so no chance to reach India, Myanmar and Thailand without.

If you dont return your bike to your home country another country might claim import tax (they tried in Sudan). Then the ADAC will pay the import tax to them (and you lose your deposit) if you cant proofe your bike is back home!

Asia ist best with rented bikes, South America you buy and sell and Africa with a European Bike http://reisemotorrad.eu
