Tassie
Hi I live in Hobart so i can help with tourist stuff hear. I've just joined this site myself today.. I want to find someone who wants to either ride around the state with me or Victoria. Where's the best place to put an add like that?

Lots of great riding in Victoria, cant go past the Great Ocean Road and a ride through the High Country is hard to beat for a couple of day ride,

+1 vote for the Victoria High Country .. :thumbup1: .. which in my opinion, has the best m/cycling roads anywhere around the country.
Tasmania? All the roads and vistas are good throughout Tassie. It’s Australia’s best kept secret. Nothing to do with riding, but when you’re down Hobart way, I would consider spending a day in the Mona Museum. It's not to everyone's taste, but I was completely spellbound. Good luck . |
Pearns' Steam Museum, Westbury and the Mining Museum at Zeehan, if you're int that stuff?

How many Kilometers/Hours are you willing to spend in the saddle per day? Do you just want information for the trip down or for tassie as well? What about the trip back? What are you interests while travelling? Sightseeing? Photography? Bird Watching? Silversmithing? Are you on a strict budget, or can you spend a bit of money? There's a lot of variables develop from your question, and If you could narrow things down, then people could be a little more helpfull, at the moment we've got nothing to go on. A month to ride from Brisbane to Tassie, and have a good look around before riding back is not that long so youre gonna have to be fairly strict with yourself, there's a hell of a lot to see. |

It would be helpful if you would ask with more time for thoughtful replies descriptions of what you like to see where you have already been so we don't spend time on those places. Next time? beer ---------------------- You could spend the whole month in the Vic/NSW highlands ... but I'll assume that you want to see Tassie. If it is raining when you arrive head to the east. If fine head to the west. The west is the wetter place in Tassie so if it is dry go there and enjoy it. Do not miss the west cost explorer road ... that will get you to Zehan where the museum is. Do see it, even if not interested in them .. this one is sure to have something for you. There is a book … “4WD Tracks in Tasmania” about $35 … you can buy it there if you run out of roads to try. Enough. |
