Grrr China planning
Does anyone know ANY planning apps or software that will alow routing into China as we plan on getting to Shanghai to disneyland before air freighting the bikes to Vancouver
I'm struggling to get rough miles from say Almaty or Ulaanbaatar as Google maps is locked down for aisia Regards Sent from my BLA-L09 using Tapatalk |
Bing Maps works in China (as do other Bing services). Ironically, it tends to have worse maps of China than Google Maps.
Actually, I'm checking now, and it seems Google Maps will gladly calculate a route from the border crossing at Erenhot down to Shanghai. Just won't do it from inside Mongolia. |

Meaning we could be in the country longer sorting the licences and permits than the days riding Such a shame Sent from my BLA-L09 using Tapatalk |
You can arrange a tour with a specialist company, then you can ride through China in your own vehicle - but you need a local escort vehicle and guides, a pre-submitted plan, etc. It can be done, just expensive. There are posts here all the time from people who want to join up to take one tour and share costs.

Try Baidu maps, Baidu is the Google of China and the maps are pretty good, also comes with satellite photo layers. Only downside is you will have to brush up on your Chinese. Maps.me is also good and have Chinese names of places in Romanized letters, but I always use Baidu maps as routing and navigating is great and it also shows traffic cameras. map.baidu.com
