Good non-commercial camp site in N. France
Anybody know of one, I'm tinking of doing a weekend trip over at the end of August, and am not sure about french laws with regarding tent pitching, so thought I'd ask if anyone knows of a good site, preferably somwhere close to the Coast.
I don't have a route planned as such, but I only a few days, so it won't be into deepest West France. Thanks |
If you stay only one night you should get away with free camping in the country. (I don't know what the law says. I've seen signs saying it's forbidden, so I assume if there is no sign it's allowed.) You can always ask a local farmer for permission.
Alternatively, for a completely different experience, approach a mairie and ask for the camp site for "les gens de voyage". Apparently every commune is legally obliged to provide a site for travelling folk (i.e. Gypsies). http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ Salut from Southern France, the bikers' paradise, Peter. |
