Flights booked to SE Asia, Where to go?

Well i am good to go to SE Asia the beginning of Dec. My daughter is coming out with me for a 10 days holiday and when she comes home I then have 7 weeks to travel. I am intending to to up to Chiang Mai and renting a bike there to ride a bit of Northern Thailand then I am going to go to either Laos or Cambodia for 3 weeks before coming home.

So.......Laos or Cambodia??????? Can not make my mind up.....Any ideas

Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne
I rented a bike from Tony's Big Bikes in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai Motorcycle Rental & Tours, Thailand | Tony's Big Bikes

To blat about the town and locality, I rented a 125cc step thru which easily took me and my (pillion) daughter everywhere. Then I rented a 400cc bike to explore beyond the city and into the mountains. Tony was great to deal with (a Cockney) and let me test-ride the bikes before handing over cash, which was < £10 per day.

My daughter and I then backpacked in Laos and Cambodia. It was really easy to get around by tuktuk or public bus.

In Cambodia, we hired 2 motorcycle taxi's who came picked us up and stayed with us all day. Angkor Wat is the must-see in Seam Reap & it is huge so you will need transportation to get the best out of your day there.
For us, having 2 taxi bikes turned out to be a great decision as I fell ill on day 2 so my driver returned me to the hotel whilst my daughter continued on her own. She (then aged 24) was well cared for by her driver. For 3 days taxi-ing us around it cost $50 US.

I found the Killing Fields near Phnom Penh very emotional.

I found Laos very relaxing. So much, I hardly visited any of the touristy stuff. In particular, Luang Prabang was a great place to completely chill-out. Great memories of French architecture, lovely coffee, big bottles of BeerLao and baguettes :)

Thanks for the info Phoenix, my daughter will be gone by the time I go to Chiang Mai, I am hoping to have 17 days in Northern Thailand,,,I have emailed Tony's and I am just waiting for them to get back to me.
Both Laos and Cambodia seem really nice so I am still confused as to which one to go to, would like to do both but don't have the time.
Also need to find a bike rental in either Country if anyone got any ideas
