Ferry Jeddah (Saudi) to Suakin (Sudan)
Hello all,
There seems to be little information on the ferry between between Saudi and Sudan. I believe the Sudanese port of Port Sudan, is not used for ferry to Saudi? Any info gladly welcomed. graham |
Back in 2002 there was a ferry from Port Sudan to Jeddah. A lot of pilgrims used the ferry and I think it still exists.
Since you are in Norway you can try to reach the Norwegian Consul in Khartoum, he is a friendly (Sudanese) guy and will probably help. Royal Norwegian Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan Street 49, House No. 63 Khartoum 2 P.O. Box 13096, Khartoum - Sudan City: Khartoum Phone: (+249 1) 83 57 83 36/57 83 43/57 83 45 Fax: (+249 1) 83 57 71 80 Web Site: Norway - the official site in Sudan Email: emb.khartoum@mfa.no |
Hello my good friend,
Thank you for your positive reply. I also found this guy Brian, who recently did it in a 4x4. He did it South to North, Keeping your options open Looks like a perfect route. Europe Turkey Syria Jordan Saudi (diesel 4p a liter !) Ferry to Sudan, then the regular run down to Cape Town. I really do need to miss out Egypt, as I will spend far too much on a 800% carnet for Egypt. My vehicle is over £10k as are others in the possible group. Graham |
