Exporting Through Europe
 

Hello All,

My plans have started to get my KLR650 back from Oman to the UK.
Im unsure of a few issues hopefully someone has info.
Im exporting the bike to Athens then riding all the way to Edinburgh. Do i need to get a carnet? or just buy insurance for Europe from somewhere?
Anyone got advice?

A carnet is NOT required/ necessary in any European country. That said, Greek Customs may have its own import paperwork and procedures for vehicles entering through Athens airport or seaport. Whatever that might be, be sure you state clearly that vehicle is being imported for personal short term tourist travel in EU, not being imported for permanent re-registration in Greece.

You will need/ want vehicle insurance for EU; and get it BEFORE you pick up bike in Athens. Available from several specialty brokers linked elsewhere under HUBB sub forum 'Paperwork.'
