Colombia, getting bike transport to central America

Greetings to all,

We are coming up through South America, via Peru, Ecuador and then Colombia. I have heard that you can transport your bike via plane/ boat to Panama from, I think Cartagena. Is it possible to send the bike to any other places further up in Central America? and does anyone have a rough idea of costs.

All help is greatly appreciated

Gracias!

Nige

Have you tried a search on this forum or "shipping".

This topic comes up regularly. I can recommend "Stahlratte" & "Melody".

You get what you pay for, and it seems to be getting more expensive - about US 250 - 300 for you and bike. There are cheaper alternatives, but beware. The trip via the San Blas is well worth the money itself. Go to Club Nautico in Cartagena, maybe check in the backpacker hostel, Casa Viena.

Flights with bike only go from Bogota, normally to Panama City, but I guess you can theoretically go anywhere in CA, if you want to.

I'm not aware of any boats going anywhere but Panama. Hope this helps.

Yeah, thats spot on. I realised that I posted this in the wrong forum, after publishing. The best way is usually to scratch around when I get there, but good to know stuff in advance.

Cheers
