cheapest way a'dam - stockholm
Hi,
I am planning to go from Amsterdam to Stockholm in the beginning of september. I want to make it a nice trip, not only highway, and also the cheapest concerning boats/bridges. Anyone suggestions for a good route and transfers? Thanx Els :mchappy: |
Denmark
Copenhagen Malmo The tunnel / bridge is good and quite cheap |
Hi
Did the trip from UK to Stockholm two years ago I took the long way, The cheapest and easiest way is to drive to puttgarten and take the ferry over to rodby in Denmark and drive to Malmo(Sweden) from there. It will save you a lot of milage and bridges tolls the ferries goes every 20 minutes ,I think, and the trip takes about 45 minutes. good luck |
If you have a problem with bridges and ferries, you could always ride round the Baltic: Germany, Poland, Kaliningrad, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, St Petersberg, Finland and Sweden.
But be warned, if you take the coast road, of a big bridge over the Kiel canal at Brunsbüttel and a slow ferry across the Elbe at Glückstad.. oh, and the little ferry at Klaipeda if you opt to stick to the coast and ride the Curonian Spit from Kaliningrad to Lithuania [recommended] On second thoughts, maybe you should just bite the bullet and ride through Denmark;-) --Mike |
You can pass Denmark in 2 different ways.
If you go over Flensburg-the bridge- Copenhagen. It is a wonderfull view on the bridge. Or take the fastest way, the boat from Puttgarden to Rodby. |
As other people have pointed out Puttgarden - Rødby is the easiest way (and fairly cheap) - do not stop at the hotel just before the ferry in Puttgarden they charge 90€....
As for going from Denmark, the is the bridge (nice, if you're into bridges), otherwise drive to Helsingør and take the ferry (will save you some milage), and it's cheaper than the bridge. In Sweden watch out, they have started to be very keen on handing out speeding fines - and it's not cheap to speed in Scandinavia. Casper |
The road along the coast from Copenhagen and up to th ferry in Helsingør is very nice, it's not fast but many nice houses there if you are interested in architecture.
