I really wouldn't even waste time considering being able to take that route.

Even the border between Azerbaijan and Russia that Dean talks about is only open to Russian and Azeri citizens, not to foreigners.

Surely it's never been possible for foreigners to cross between Russia and Georgia through Abkhazia or S.Osetia in the past?
