Carnet through Iran
 
From what I know you need a carnet to drive through Iran. The issue is that I have heard that American citizens due to the current political stature between the two countries cannot be issued a carnet for Iran. Is this true and if it is is there any way around this? :helpsmilie:

The carnet is not the issue. Getting a visa and travelling independently through Iran is. As an American you can only get a visa if you take a guided tour or when you are invited by an Iranian citizen who takes responsibility for your actions while you are in the country.
