I would normally encourage anybody to get up and go, but as you have no riding experience at all I would suggest that you reconsider such a long journey on foreign roads.
Your major obstacle will be the bike. As far as i am aware you will not be able to ride the 1100cc as a new rider, unless the rules have changed again. That bike will be a handfull for a novice rider anyway. Also insurance for a new rider on such a big bike would be bloody expensive. Sorry to be negative, but i really think that you have bitten off much more than you can chew. But good luck anyway Lee :mchappy: |
Are you crazy,
An 1100cc bike for your first long haul ? Serious thought must go into swapping this bike for some thing much more manageable, perhaps a a 500cc or a 650cc. This 1100cc is not the best bike you could have picked, the challenge won't be the road, the tracks or the sand, not even driving on other side of road ! it will simply be a challenge to ride such a heavy bike. |
Look on the bright side, at least he found this site.
Or is it a wind up? I wouldn't be so worried about the size of the bike (given that much of the route will be main roads and motorways) but riding in Spain can be really hazardous. I just hope your brother-in-law looks after you. Allow probably four or five days each way for the trip through France and Spain. Check the knowledgebase in my signature for Morocco info. Don't be too ambitious for Morocco unless you have lots of time. There's some Morocco route ideas in the http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...eginners-28996 thread. If you only have a few days don't go further south than Khénifra or thereabouts. |
Go for it
Go for it all the info you need is on this site Tims knowledgebase is a good place to start. You will soon get use to the bike you dont want to let your sponsers down will you?
