Bike friendly places Turkey Iran pakistan India

Hi, Im currently travelling RTW for charity on route for Turkey Iran aug/september and on east. Was wondering if anyone had any info on bike friendly places on the usual route overland. Also if anyone has any info on the badlands across pakistan and whether its necessary to travel in a convoy that would be a big help. All the best Jonny

turkey

I've just come back through turkey though I'm not too sure by what you mean with the usual overland places? Istanbul (I guess) is clear but further, are you using motorways or smaller? the south seemed so much more tourist orientated and I felt people were more interested and welcolming in the middle and the north coast (not that it was by any means 'bad' in the south). I didn't see many motorbikes mind and it was very hot in the southeast.
The places we camped, fuelled up and ate at were just full of really friendly people providing tea, coffee food and conversation with genuine interest as to where we were going and where we had come from. it was really lovely and we were treated really well as bikers/travellers/guests. Not sure if this helps cheers simon

Cheers Simon, yeah seems more real when you get off the beaten track eh, away from the tourist hordes. Im finding more people are agreeing with me about Morocco, its a shame because a few spoil it for the rest but hey ho.

Hi Mate

I did he same route but the other way around this time last year. Things do change quickly in Pak but dont believe all you hear, especialy from the western media, just treat people with respect , observe there customs and a smile should get you through.

One hotel I do recomend is the Silk Road in Yazd, Iran, right next to the main mosque, great food ( camel curry is recommended) and friend ly owners. Parking is easy, its right outside the hotel and its real quiet. Ill check through my diary and see if I come up with some more. One that is great is the Serena in Quetta, at the time it was the only hotel that wanted to take westerners, ite a bit pricey, but even if you dont stay, go for dinner, the all you can eat Pakistani BBQ is GREAT, also if you are a guest, you can get an ice cold beer, it was 52 degrees when I arrived and I had just done a month in Iran - yes please!:thumbup1:
