Around the Black Sea to Iran

Hi to all,

I`m planning 2up tour in june (about 3 weeks) - from EU, around the Black Sea, from Armenia to Iran and from Iran back to EU. I would like to have some advices and info about the best itinerary, especially about routes and border crossings from Armenia to Iran (without entering Azerbaijan, due to high costs). Currently i see only one option, via Turkey...

Thanks for any help in advance,

Jani

Hi,

I'm fairly new to this, but wondered if anyone knew whether iran is possible? looking at:

Iran travel advice

It seems like its not a great idea, ideally I'd like to plan a trip coming back from India to the UK, but thought the above link made this impossible?

Thanks

You could always go up to Sost (Pakistan) and round the top missing out Iran altogether. (A week through China will cost a few quid mind)
You'd have the joy of The KKH and Hunza as long as you're not planning to travel in the winter!
Is it an Indian registered moto, if so you'll have problems there as well.

Cheers

Don't believe media. No safety problem.Have 5 friends currently biking in Iran, more than 15 in Pakistan, 1 Turkish couple biker and 1 cyclist friends...Iran and Pakistan highly recommended before the natural beauties are lost because of development, modernisation(whatever you call it) comes.
Read this and cheese!!!
Terrifying Countries You Must Visit - AskMen,

@all other friends at the same destination through Turkey.
Things may change so fast in this area so better ask for current situation at border gates, ferries between Turkey and other countries 10-15 days before you start your trip...All current information available at the club and all questions are friendly welcome..
Our club is a pit-stop and meeting place for bikers..

Wish you all the best

My wife and I travelled though Iran in 2009 and 2010. As a white English couple (on 2 motorcycles) it is far from an easy place to travel, with respect to the Police/Military! There are large parts of the country you will have escorts which are a real pain in the arse (unlike Pakistan where the escorts are great if a little slow ;) and all this was before the current problems.
I'm pretty sure I would go if I was in you position now (assuming you can get a visa, which I doubt!)

On the other side of the Rial the general public are great, friendly and helpful.
How many countries would you visit before random strangers take you out for dinner or come over to you when you are sat on a kerb at a fuel station offering you fresh fruit from there weekly shopping :)
It is sure unlike any other of the countries I've visited.

All the best John

We did the tour around the black see last year.
The road is partly bad but driveable, also with a streetbike.
The border from russia to Georgia was open, we had no problems!

We did the "round of black sea" last year.
No safety problems at all.
Feel free to contact me for any details you may need.
