Accessing North East Africa
I'm new to the forum and planning to drive to Dubai in January 2013. With the current political situation in Libya going through the sahara/north Africa is too dangerous which leaves us taking a route down through Turkey.
We're going to be in a toyota landcrusier and wanted to find out what the best route to access North Eastern Africa would be? Looking at the options it's a case of either going to Egpyt or Israel and I was wondering which would be easier. I noticed there is a thread about travel from Mersin to Alexandria. What would be your reccomendations and how can I go about finding a price? It seems that the other post says it's a case of turning up on the day? Can anyone advise on the best way to go about this? Many Thanks!!! |
You do not say where you are starting from so any replies will be difficult to formulate.

If your starting point is Europe;
Mersin-Egypt option will be very expensive and so much paperwork in Egypt. Currently best and most safe route is through Turkey,Iran,Bandarabbas port then ferry to Sharjah. Best wishes. |
