A change of plan......Help please
 

After a while of planning it now looks like there's gonna have to be a change of plans, so......
For a one week tour at the end of May from the North West of England, suggestions please for a route\destinations. Not too keen on too much Motorway bashing :rolleyes2:

Fairly new to "proper" touring so any helpful advice welcomed.
(1 rider on a GS the other on a Sprint ST)

Option 1. Isle of Skye, Applecross, Scottish Highlands etc.
Option 2. Liverpool-Belfast or Dublin ferry then The Burren, Ring of Kerry etc.

Both of those are good suggestions (particularly Ireland) but run the risk of being the wettest place this side of your bathtub :rain:

Rather than "go west young man" I'd suggest go south and head for Devon and Cornwall. It may well be just as damp but at least the rain will be a degree or two warmer.:clap::rofl: If it's meant to be a holiday just don't come anywhere near the London area. :nono:

anywhere on irelands west coast is fantastic, scotlands west coast too, ferry prices i dunno but its added expense , i d do scotland

but bring the waterproofs

Ireland is never as wet as reputation would have it

One week is not a very long time, so to max your enjoyment of where you go, think about less distance and more discovery. Nothing worse (IMHO) than tarmac bashing for the sake of it. From the North West of England, going on a ride to discover the Scottish distilleries up the western isles can be fun. Caledonian Mc Brane do a range of discounted ferry tickets which lets you move about quite easily. I went to Arran to have a look and stayed three days, then picked around Loch Fyne and Loch Lomond for a few days. Great countryside and well worth exploring.

The west coast of Ireland is amazing esp the burran and the cliffs of Moher in County Clare . I got stuck in horrible weather in Westport, however there is a great pub there which seems to be open most of the day!!! You do however need more than a week to do Ireland justice.

Addendum:- If you are not used to Touring, it`s best to break yourself in easy with shorter journeys until you get into the rhythm of things and find your comfortable distance levels. You can quite easily put yourself right off touring by trying the big distances to start of with.
