Tiffany Goes to Tibet

Yes, it's true folks, I'm once more on the road (having been spotted by fellow HUBBers in various exotic locations) and I'm in the extremely enviable position of being paid for it! With the added bonus of the dream destination of Mount Everest Base Camp in Tibet.
It's fourteen years since I set off on my first bike trip and as I've crossed every continent since then, many of them twice, my experience is being put to the test in a job that I see as being a holiday rep with atitude riding a kick ass bike.
We set off at the end of April and we're currently in Tajikistan, there are three of us in the support team - two bikes and a mechanic in the van. Our group are great and are a veritable United Nations with riders from the States, Sweden, Switzerland, Britain and also the honeymooning Aussies!

As you can see, Thelma (my BMW R80GS) isn't coming along on this journey, as I've been given a company bike to ride, a 2009 1200GS nicknamed Beryl. I've also gone a bit bike-riding mad and I'm wearing proper motocross boots for the first time. What people don't realise is that they cunningly have platform soles, so that those of us who are a bit more vertically challenged aren't having to stretch quite so far to reach the ground.

It wasn't all sun on the first day

But it did brighten up

This journey is completey different in so many ways to how I usually travel - which is solo and with unlimited time. We're on a schedule and we're a group, although everyone rides their own ride each day, whether it's solo, in a pair or in a small group.

I'm like a Mother Hen, making sure that everyone is accounted for and arrives at each day's hotel safely.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Envious? I should say! Great as I'm sure it's going to be, the Adventure Travel Film Festival will be a poor substitute.

Chris, Thelma would have loved this trip, especially as there are other bikes to ride with. However she's hardly suffering, she's waiting for me in Mexico, yes she's still on an extended leave of absence since I left her there six months ago on the way home from your house. I was supposed to go back and get her, but this job came up and I wasn't going to say no!:funmeteryes:

Update

This is going to be a quick summary of 6,000 miles of riding, because as I suspected, I haven't had much chance to keep you guys posted here or even to email home much!
It's been an amazing trip so far, everyone has had an off, including me and naturally mine was the only fall captured on video camera, and not just one camera either! so look out for that one on youtube in the near future when I get the guys to download it. It was a particularly pathetic drop as well.

THAT flaming crater...just amazing, thanks to Majurk and his MotoSyberia DVD I've been wanting to go there for three years and finally I made it (last time I was denied a visa)

Hi Tiffany

Your pic at the ACE CAFE LONDON looks so great. I landed there are 76 days from India last year on my old Enfield. It always nostalgic to see pics at ACE CAFE especially to have a wonderful host like Mark Wilsmore its owner.

Would you be coming with your group to India ? Please do let me know of your plans we can definitely catch up and ride together some distance and share notes.

Cheers all the best

Kayjay - Ride your dream.

Hi Kayjay
Funny you should say that, but I'm just completing the write-up of my ride this year in India, and I'll be back again next year - August 2015, taking an all-female group up to Ladakh - it would be great to meet up
