Short Trips on the CB500x further afield, Thailand
As I am starting to get out of Isaan on some of my trips I have started a new thread. I am not finished with Isaan but I am going further afield.
My latest trip to Nan will be up soon. In the meantime I will put up my trip to Lampang to get the thread started (which is from my other thread) Wayne |
3 days, Isaan and beyond 281123
The plan was to go up north and see Snakeboy from this site, as I have not seen him since around 2017/18 due to other commitments. We first met when we rode together in Laos early Jan 2015. So I was looking forward to the trip. Then the plan was to go further up north to meet some likeminded people from the GT riders forum, https://www.gt-rider.com/se-asia-motorcycling/ , and have some food, drink and banter. Day 1 Home to near Lampang. I set off at about 0630 as my trusty Montana 600 was saying about 430k's to where I need to be and I am not getting any younger so I like to be able to stop as frequently as necessary. The journey as to take me roughly west on the 12 then north on the 11 I was cold when I sent off and there was some mist on the early stages of the 12 cutting through the mountains. I was wearing my new gear and my arms we stinging with the wind blast, at least I know the jacket is working well and letting air in!! https://i.imgur.com/ocLt2yPl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/C0WAwbil.jpg Both on the 12 and 11 there were good dual carriageway roads twisting and turning through the mountains dotted with great views, which meant I didn't not have to ease up on the throttle as much and the ride flowed well. https://i.imgur.com/kV2rWlxl.jpg Phu Pha Daeng Wildlife Preserve Area, Lom Sak, Phetchabun, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/8LHwSO9l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WHY0NHkl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UU8scdXl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OePU5nel.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yN2CatAl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5CuUeitl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oAqOnJgl.jpg Khao Kaeo, Khao Kho, Phetchabun, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/nUIsSctl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EL2lbf0l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tRc47SVl.jpg Nakhon Thai, Phitsanulok, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/O6Ga5Odl.jpg Wayne |
Day 1 continued
Snakeboy had given me co-ords to a Temple which was on route, very nice it was too.. Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri, Den Chai, Phrae, Thailand. Day 2 Had a steady morning and a good breakfast before heading out We were heading up to Chiang Kham with a few stops on the way https://i.imgur.com/ZYGKVIol.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pb6DIPal.jpg First up was a visit to the Mae Mo Power Station, Lampang, Thailand. It was massive and EGAT (electricity generating authority Thailand) had done quite a lot of conservation work in and around its real-estate https://i.imgur.com/sjMbPxml.jpg Mae Mo, Lampang, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/vPoMfPnl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zBBC2gIl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tA19qQ1l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4EA7UMml.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HP2pGdpl.jpg Then it was off to the Bua Tong Field of Flowers which were still good even though they were getting past their sell by date. 3 days, Isaan and beyond 281123
Day 3 Time to travel home with a long day a head in the saddle, with stops it took me about 9.5 hours. 573km. The first part of the journey was on roads I had not been on but then it was back on to the long sweeping dual carriageway bends on the 11 and 12. It was still dark when I set off which offers a good chance to see how the lights on the bike were. https://i.imgur.com/7RWhrXul.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lLrRLiJl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/g76hdZXl.jpg Chiang Kham area, Phayao, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/ro0gPPHl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VmCfkGXl.jpg Chiang Muan area, Phayao, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/1QcUs4Il.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vwayyJul.jpg https://i.imgur.com/hj8mFNIl.jpg Nakhon Thai area, Phitsanulok, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/DkWmiaJl.jpg It was a good few days out with a grand total of 1260km. 4 Days to Nan and back dodging the Tropical Storms 180924
Day 1 It's been a while since I last had a few days out on the bike. I had been looking a going north and out of Isaan. I looked at riding through the mountains and heading to Nan as I've never been there. We had just got rid of a tropical storm, Typoon Yagi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Yagi) and others may be on the way. Possibly Tropical Storm Soulik (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropic...m_Soulik_(2024)), so it was time to pull the pin and ride https://i.imgur.com/61DIvXJl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1KQJz6Il.jpg As per the norm, I got a coffee from my coffee shop in my flask cup and off I went I took the 12 for over 100 km which I have done before (on my way to Lampang) It's a nice road, even more so once you are through the first mountain range as it opens up to a 2 lane carriageway with some large sweeping bends and great views. https://i.imgur.com/9OqSn1Kl.jpg Phu Pha Daeng Wildlife Preserve Area, Lom Sak, Phetchabun, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/ciUbJFul.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UlQzNRWl.jpg Lom Sak, Phetchabun, Thailand From there I got on to the 2013, the road was good, I stayed on this until Nakhon Thai. As I entered Nakhon Thai I started to feel a bit hungry so I was looking for some noodles, however I came across a small monument and across the road was a PTT petrol station with a KFC, the thoughts of noodles quickly disappeared. Monument Nakhon Thai N17.08743 E100.82615 https://i.imgur.com/6MYGr2Xl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qNcvWpJl.jpg Far better than noodles hahaha From Nakhon Thai I went onto the 1143 which skirted the edge of another mountain range for most of it. I stayed on this road until I got to Ban Phae where I joined the 1246 for a short while. From there it was on to the 1214, this road was still following the edge of a mountain range. Eventually it went into a bit of a wide valley where it meets the 117 which took me all the way into Nam Pat. Nam Pat was my first night stopover. I had plotted a nice little coffee shop to go to in Nam Pat, Wela Cafe, but when I got there it was closed down. I had seen another one on the way in so I turned around and headed there. As I nearly got there I noticed a small resort so I pulled in a got a room. Not my day! Nam Pat is a bit of a one horse town with not a great deal to do or see. But it was a good spring board for tomorrow's ride. On going for a mooch about I came across a nice little coffee shop which I had missed on my ride through, and not far from where I was staying. Sorted! Roger that mate.
Maybe we can ride together again in the future! bier Send my regards to Snakeboy if you see him again. Pity I missed him on my last trip to Thailand. |
4 Days to Nan and back dodging the Tropical Storms 180924
Day 2 part 1 It had rained overnight and the roads were still a bit wet as I set off to catch my ferry across the Nan river/ SiriKit Reservoir Dam. I wanted to be there early as I didn't know how long I would have to wait for the crossing. https://i.imgur.com/uZ47cNHl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/68XnZcWl.jpg The 1339 starts in Nam Pat and what a great road to ride, you are practically straight into the mountains, with views, tight hairpins, winding bends, what more do you need....dry roads would have been good! But you can't have it all, slower than normal, it's better for the shiny side up. https://i.imgur.com/NZIUvd6l.jpg On the 1339, Nam Pat, Uttaradit, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/GnjxOB9l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/wXcYmQDl.jpg The cloud was low https://i.imgur.com/QcQDmH5l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/c9R8nUXl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/b9vQed0l.jpg I got to the ferry area at about 0830 which was a bit like the Mary Celeste. I did eventually find people who ran the food joint there. Though using Google Translate and my wife on the phone I found out that the ferry would come at some point! So I settled down and had some Pork fried rice and waited. Then a guy came and opened a little kiosk. So I went and had a natter only to be told the the ferry was on the other side and would not just come across to pick up one bike, OMG, maybe I should have gone the long way round! Anyway after a quick natter to my wife, again, she rang the ferry operator and they were coming, maybe 30 minutes maybe 1 hour. More time to kill. Then I spotted it, movement coming from the far bank. The ferry was coming. About 25 minutes later I was on board and off to the other side. From getting to the Ferry and getting off at the other side was about 2hrs 15/20 mins. Not long in the grand scheme of things but long when you're just hanging about not knowing whats going on. https://i.imgur.com/ZZ1VkdQl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/svXxMWQl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LA8zqwel.jpg https://i.imgur.com/etzZ8Sbl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gyGkbojl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IGfEMeDl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YufRpYtl.jpg The other side Wayne |
Day 2 part 2
Unloaded and on to the 1026, another sweet road to ride with awesome viewing. It would be great to ride it again at some point. I stayed on this until I got to the 101 which took me into Nan https://i.imgur.com/YvdLB5Ql.jpg On the 1026, Na Muen, Nan, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/Wg9OtC5l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5h15EMKl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YgdKptKl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PmmpQKxl.jpg Just as the 1026 was ending I saw this coffee shop in Wiang Sa. 4 Days to Nan and back dodging the Tropical Storms 180924
Day 3 Very cloudy when I set off, maybe the rain has eventually caught me! https://i.imgur.com/NsA61hll.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CrjmORul.jpg Blast down the 101 to Wiang Sa then onto the 1162, it was a nice road to ride and probably lulled me into a false sense of security, because then I hit the 1243 https://i.imgur.com/Rbj9brjl.jpg Nan River, Wiang Sa, Nan, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/qQaoROQl.jpg The 1243, horrible road Although it was not raining at this point the 1243 through the mountains was not a great road to ride IMO, I was really narrow and extremely winding and because you were in the trees there was nothing to look at. Which was really a good thing as it was strewn with little landslide which left wet mud all over, wet leaves, bits of broken trees. The road was damp all the way through it and at quite a lot of points on the road I was doing about 10/15 km per hour. Some of the time I was riding in the cloud. Thankfully the rain didn't come until I had cleared it otherwise I don't know how long it would have taken me. This would not be a road I would do again. https://i.imgur.com/nJO0lwBl.jpg On the 1243, Si Nan National Park, Wiang Sa, Nan, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/rEgn70Tl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mp4UNT6l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kf4x5tHl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Gimlkt1l.jpg Still on the 1243, Ban Khok, Uttaradit, Thailand I stopped at a road junction at the end of the 1243 and had a coffee, the rain then came, light at first. I had to think about what I was going to do as there was nowhere in the local area to hold up, no hotels, nothing. I looked at going to Nam Pat, which was about 70km away, then I looked at going to Fang Tha which was closer. I ended up going to Ban Khok on the 1268 and followed it all the way to Na Haeo, which as it turned out was the original road I wanted to go on. The 1268 was nice to ride but because it was now raining albeit it slowly at first All the villages I came across were covered in mud where people have been coming out of their properties and fields. Once clear of the villages the road was good albeit wet https://i.imgur.com/iIH7aqcl.jpg On the 1268, Nam Pat, Uttaradit, Thailand On the 1268 I came across a waterfall, I didn't venture further up the trail as I was in my bike boots. The place was quite busy considering the weather Phu Soi Dao Waterfall on the 1268 N17.70535 E100.95181 https://i.imgur.com/qsGSzSDl.jpg Phu Soi Dao Waterfall on the 1268, Nam Pat, Uttaradit, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/kRC33oBl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qt0fbq5l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7XQVGAFl.jpg The original plan was to find a hotel or resort in the area of Na Haeo. But as I was already wet I decided to push through to Dan Sai to get all the smaller roads out of the way today rather than do some more tomorrow as the weather was supposed to worsen. https://i.imgur.com/XPZu6w4l.jpg Still on the 1268, Na Haeo, Loei, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/ZZjq4m9l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dSWCAl5l.jpg On the 2113 Na Haeo, Loei, Thailand When I got to Dan Sai I had a ride through the town looking for a hot coffee and came acres the Ta Cafe. Hot coffee and hot food. The owner let me put my bike around the back out of the rain and she said she had rooms for the night, after food and coffee I went for a look, it would do, time to get the wet gear off! Mate,
What is the green thingy on top of your fuel tank? |
It's a green micro fibre cloth, I use it to protect my fuel tank. I had some clear plastic covering on it but it was getting worn so I took that off and now use this

Day 4 https://i.imgur.com/r23Ijghl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9VRUlYIl.jpg I left Dan Sai and it was spitting with rain and the roads were still wet from yesterday's and all night down pour. Waterproofs on as I set off. The 2014 from Dan Sai for a few k's then the 21 south towards Lom Sak and at one point I was riding in the clouds, again. The road is nice to ride and by about 40 km into the journey the sun was making an appearance. https://i.imgur.com/o7Kgioql.jpg The Viewpoint, Dan Sai, Loei, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/0oKGsvSl.jpg The further I got down the road the drier the roads were getting https://i.imgur.com/YaQt22wl.jpg Views from the way home https://i.imgur.com/Lq4iqwOl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qKMoftMl.jpg At Lom Sak I stopped for a coffee at a little cafe on the high street. Whilst I was there it had a good stream of customers, at this point I took my waterproof jacket off but left the trousers on, just in case. The roads were still dry https://i.imgur.com/AGyMQ3Yl.jpg A roadside Coffee Shop, Lom Sak, Phetchabun, Thailand Lom Sak took me onto the 12, I like this road, especially the stretch from Phitsanulok to Chum Phae through the mountains. As the roads were mostly dry it was good to push on, enjoying the bends and the scenery. I stopped at the forest rangers checkpoint to take my waterproof trousers off as I was beginning to feel like a boil in the bag. https://i.imgur.com/V1jw5a8l.jpg Phu Pha Daeng Wildlife Preserve area, Lom Sak, Phetchabun, Thailand Once at Khon San it was on to the 2004 and home Overall a great few days out in-between the tropical storms and smack on 1000km done Wayne |
A trip west to Kanchanaburi to honour the fallen
A trip west to Kanchanaburi to honour the fallen 091124
The main aim of this trip was to go to Kanchanaburi for Remembrance Day (Armistice Day). Last year my wife came with me, this year she was busy so I decided to make a 6 day trip of it on the bike, any excuse for a ride out! It's an area I have wanted to ride. The plan was to ride west and see what happens, apart from loose route that was it. Day 1 https://i.imgur.com/2e3sgwcl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7e74Zirl.jpg I set off at 0725 once I had got my coffee in my flaskcup. It was a cool 20 degrees when I left, which is a nice English summers day, I, however were a bit chilly. I must be getting used to the heat and humidity. My Knox armoured shirt was definitely letting the breeze in once moving First stop was the PTT garage in Kaset Sombun to fill up the bike, then it was off into the unknown. The plan today was to get to Nakhon Sawan for an overnight stop. Once there I wanted to get my chain adjusted and visit a temple on a hill before finding a room. The roads were pretty good all day, although my gps did take me on a small detour down a wide track rather than stopping on the main road. When I was making the route on basecamp I use 'shortest', so clearly it had decided that was shorter than stick to the main drag. It was only 16 km and a nice ride anyway. https://i.imgur.com/bB9CEVhl.jpg Nong Bua Daeng, Chaiyaphum, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/kJIht6Hl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UYHHGeyl.jpg Wichian Buri, Phetchabun, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/b5PlYakl.jpg When I was on the 1 heading to Nakhon Sawan there was still a lot of water in the fields from this year's wet season. K's and K's of it on both sides. It not very good for the people who have the land as no crops can be sown. https://i.imgur.com/2e80P2tl.jpg Flooding, Chum Saeng, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/ZpH7rpyl.jpg Into Nakhon Sawan and straight to Honda Big Bike to get my chain adjusted. I don't have a torque wrench to do it myself so I popped into Honda. Very helpful, I had a free coffee and bottle of water whilst they did the deed. The mechanic would did not charge me for the work so I gave him some money to get himself a beer. Day 2 Nakhon Sawan to Kanchanaburi https://i.imgur.com/c9wjXQ6l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OXPe81pl.jpg The route today was pretty straight forward with not a lot to look at to be honest I left the hotel early and went to the PTT station to fill up, once there I had to hang around awhile whilst the staff sorted the pumps out and took reading, possibly shift change! Whilst there I got talking to a Spanish guy travelling around, he had just been to China and through Laos, his end place today was Bangkok. He was riding a DCT Africa Twin Anyway 35 mins later I was back on the road and had a good blast down the 1 until I got to the 333 https://i.imgur.com/4RspuEyl.jpg Chaophraya River, Mueang Nakhonsawan, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/Q13V5Xol.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YDZNuQql.jpg On the 333, Huai Khot, Uthai Thani, Thailand The 333 started as a dual carriage way then went to single lane although there was not a lot to see. N14.04177 E99.50386 I have been a few times before but it's a first on the bike. It's a nice area to visit but very touristy as you would expect https://i.imgur.com/LVdDtsEl.jpg Mueang Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/tTrFasRl.jpg Time to look for a room. I knew which area I preferred to be in so I parked the bike up and had a look around. As I have said before, bike parking is a deciding factor for me unless there is no other choice I found the Blue Star Guest House N14.03561 E099.51771 Once I had paid for 2 night I saw had cats and I believe they had been in the room. I have a cat allergy so not good, a trip to the pharmacy for some anti histamine. They worked really well. I spoke to the owners and they did offer me another room but I had all my stuff out and the bike sorted so I stayed put. https://i.imgur.com/IQkalwnl.jpg Kanchanaburi Room Link Here Once I have got sorted out and stopped itching, thanks to the anti histamine, it was time to have a walk out. A trip west to Kanchanaburi to honour the fallen 091124
Day 3 Remembrance Day Service at the Don Rak Allied War Cemetery in Kanchanaburi N14.03197 E99.52579 I went to Tapas Thai for a cooked breakfast. It was nice and worth the visit. Then it was back to the room to relax a bit and get changed ready for the service. The walk to the War Cemetery didn't take long as it was only about 700/800 meters away It is something I have done every year I have been able to no matter what country I have been in and it is also the main reason for this trip. Once the service had finished it was back to Tapas Thai for food and drink with some of the guys from the Royal British Legion. A trip west to Kanchanaburi to honour the fallen 091124
Day 4 The intention today was to ride through the mountains and end up around Erawan https://i.imgur.com/5lG6nvel.jpg https://i.imgur.com/U4PPpmhl.jpg I was up early, as per the norm, so I decided to go fill up and pop to The Bridge over the River Kwai. It was about 0630 so no one was about and I had an unhindered photo chance https://i.imgur.com/rAJdV4rl.jpg The Bridge over the River Kwai, Mueang Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/AapQbCll.jpg I left Kanchanaburi after another full breakfast at Tapas Thai and headed in the direction of the Three Pagodas right at the end of the 323. https://i.imgur.com/7YUq5pOl.jpg Tapas Thai, Mueang Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/FJ8w3uHl.jpg I had messaged 9w6vx to see if it was worth going all the way to the 3 Pagodas and after a discussion I decided it wasn't So I had planned to hook a right on to the 3091 which is about 20km before Thong Pha Phum. From there, it was on to the 6093 then the 6043 heading south. For about the first 50/60 km the 323 is a bit boring but as you enter the valley then it's great and easy going https://i.imgur.com/St46WSKl.jpg On the 323, Mueang Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/utZW6f6l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8tcWgRvl.jpg Still on the 323, Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/HkUNAQUl.jpg Then is was the right turn on to the 3091, heading towards a ferry which can take you across the dam (although I am not sure if it's working or not). The road started off a good normal road with some great views. I am not sure if it was before or after Ban Saphan Lao there was a barrier at one of the rangers hut. They let me through and I stopped to see what the road was like going forward. They said a lot of things but I did catch Mai Dee (no good). But cars were going it that direction so it must be manageable on the X. So off I went, the road lasted about another few km when went on to a wide track. This lasted the rest of the way on the 3091 and on to the 6043. Which was roughly about 35/36km and it was good fun, albeit hard work on the X. I would not try it in the rainy season or just after a down pour. Most of it was a mix of mud and rocks then rocks and mud! But because it was dry and hard it was very doable. It would be super on a lighter bike, but I would do it again. Then the track went back to a road near a food place N14.63721 E98.99543 So I stopped for food, water and coffee before moving on to Erawan. https://i.imgur.com/HmsqqDCl.jpg On the 3091, Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/cdrLr7El.jpg On the 3091, Lam Khlong Ngu National Park, Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/MijyTFSl.jpg On the 3091, Khuean Srinagarindra National Park, Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/gE62Hq4l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qIaQoGQl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kRCZimrl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dfjSheXl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/OpBzFpkl.jpg On the 6093, Khuean Srinagarindra National Park, Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/PtK9tHGl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Rvyf1KJl.jpg The road was good riding all the way to Erawan. Once there I popped into the centre of the village, gulped down some more water and my camelbak was done and looked for a place to sleep. Looking on booking.com they were quite expensive for what I normally pay when on the bike. Anyway I managed to find a place for a decent price further on up the road about 20 km and there was a 7-eleven just before the place. Once I got to the 7 there was another little resort place so I went in. Baan Suwan, Tha Kradan, Si Sawat Resort N14.44136 E99.13116 on the 3199. A trip west to Kanchanaburi to honour the fallen 091124
Day 5 More mountains to have an enjoyable ride through and then a decision to make on my final destination as I didn't know whether I wanted to end up in Chai Nat or Singburi, not a lot to choose between for todays distance and tomorrow's distance heading home. https://i.imgur.com/rumoSBGl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QeuQhx6l.jpg I left quite early as normal and continued following the 3199 heading back into the mountains. The route took me to near another shorter journey ferry across the Srinagaring Dam Reservoir. It was only 800m from a junction I had to take if I was going to follow 2 reservoir inlets through the mountains. So I thought I would pop for a look...the ferry was there and loading up, it would be rude not to get on! I did have more mountain roads later on. The ferry N14.55125 E99.15618 was pretty straight forward and as I saw, there were more than one operating at the same time and at around 0740 it was quite busy. 20 THB for my X https://i.imgur.com/lalgIpel.jpg https://i.imgur.com/E6hGf9gl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Ip6sEGTl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VLwjYwQl.jpg Hope we don't sink! lol https://i.imgur.com/7toiRVdl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TZbA4OMl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/INADBP3l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4PqmcV2l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/UznPykel.jpg Once off the ferry I picked up the 3199 again before it turned into the 4041. This was another nice road to ride through the mountains and in a valley. The bit through the mountains was very twisty in parts and has a view point along it, N14.82290 E99.11098. At some point during the mountains I rode through some low cloud and it got a bit chilly for a bit. Once in the valley the road opens up for a bit before more mountain sections. https://i.imgur.com/wRX1VjOl.jpg On the 4041, Si Sawat, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/Z5YxsCml.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kLRdTl2l.jpg Higher up at the viewpoint on the 4041, Si Sawat, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/vPJpAd0l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qYYMnM7l.jpg Looking at the clouds, Si Sawat, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/Y0wKBQzl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/B6UYCSfl.jpg Still on the 4041, Nong Prue, Kanchanaburi, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/BA7WGSMl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/InCQWWVl.jpg I then got to the junction of the 4041 and the 3480 and it was decision time...Chai Nat or Singburi. Singburi won the toss. Plotted it into the Montana, shortest route. It took me on some nice roads, including some the Romans would have been proud of. I stopped of for a coffee at the Little Frog Cafe in Sam Chuk ( it's also a resort with rooms to rent) N14.78012 N100.08624 https://i.imgur.com/qOkmGBTl.jpg On the 3086, Dan Chang, Suphan Buri, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/43fcb8xl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tQ9K6ugl.jpg Coffee. stop on the 3050. A trip west to Kanchanaburi to honour the fallen 091124
Day 6 Heading home https://i.imgur.com/2SDiiO9l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qb1vNlpl.jpg The breakfast at the Chaisaeng Palace N14.89708 E100.40060 was good, they had a good choice. https://i.imgur.com/eAMiSlpl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oTq7EBal.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JSezecWl.jpg I put in the coffee shop on my Montana 600 and picked shortest distance which turned out to be about 320km. I need to fill up so I looked for a PTT, there was one on the 32. Once at the PTT I brimmed the tank ready for the day ahead the set off. Now normaly there are loads of U turns especially near fuel stations but for some reason they were all blocked off so I ended up being re-routed and it added another 20 plus km on to the journey. Because I had put in shortest route it was taking shortcuts from the main roads and even threw in a bit of track just for good measure. I ended up using a bit of the 11 then going on to the 3196, this took me on to the 3354 From the 3354 I picked up the 2219 through Nong Muang and on towards the 21 https://i.imgur.com/YPSwAXWl.jpg Wat Khok Krang, Takhli, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/RGwOempl.jpg On the 1012, Khlong Anusatsananan, Takhli, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/hlYbi84l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xbrbqwql.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5yzoIrzl.jpg Ban Mi, Lop Buri, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/K885ZRFl.jpg I had a natter to a Thai guy on this nice Triumph 120 Once I had gone across central Thailand I picked up the 4007, 225 and the 2359 which I had done at the beginning of my trip. When I was on the 225 I got stuck behind 3 articulated lorries and the going was slow, howerer it did give me chance to see 2 monkeys in the wild, sat on the side of the road. I could not stop due to being in a large queue of traffic. Once at Kaset Sombum I filled up again and head home. https://i.imgur.com/VxDgcgOl.jpg On the 4007, Wichian Buri, Phetchabun, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/3bz2mOal.jpg On the 225, Wichian Buri, Phetchabun, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/arvl493l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jUTdDScl.jpg On to 4029, Phu Khiao, Chaiyaphum, Thailand https://i.imgur.com/Jjnzzael.jpg A total of 1446km covered which is about 895 miles. Apologies for the missing photos but Imgur decided that they were against its policy. As stated to me when I emailed them to find out why my content had disappeared. Although I do not see how, otherwise they would have taken everything down as it's all the same kind of content....bikes and scenery!
Some of it had been on the system for a year. As with the example of deletion on this thread, just one part of the complete trip!! Maybe the little lovies had hurt feelings when seeing the Allied War Graves? I will endeavor to re-up the photos and complete the threads again Wayne |
An overnight trip to Pak Chong to visit a mate 26/03/25
Day 1 It's been a while since I have been out on the bike for a trip. But as we are all well aware, time just goes. So, what better excuse do I need than to pop and see a fellow Yorkshireman in Pak Chong I didn't want to just blast down the highway/dual carriageway so I opted for a longer route there, then I will use the highway to go back home the following day. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e16246cc_z.jpgOvernight visit to a mate 260325 Day 1 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1b4b2c83_z.jpgOvernight visit to a mate 260325 Day 1a I set of from the Coffee Shop and headed towards Kaset Sombun and Nong Bua Daeng on roads I had previously travelled on my trip to Kanchanaburi. There was a lot of smog in the air for the whole of the trip due to it being the illegal burning season in the country. I then headed towards Phakdi Chumphon on the 2359. From there it was onto the 225 and my first and only bit of riding through a hill range on the trip. It was nice while it lasted. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...42f5cff7_z.jpgIMG_1173 On the 225, Sai Thong National Park, Phakdi Chumphon, Chaiyaphum, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9dc16675_z.jpgIMG_1174 Further up the road there was the Khao Phangheoi Viewpoint. An overnight trip to Pak Chong to visit a mate 26/03/25
Day 2 During my evening out with Phil my wife had messaged me. A job at the property which had been on the cards to do for a while was happening and the people were coming tomorrow. Tomorrow is now here and I got an early start, the highway road it was going to be https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...afd3a05a_z.jpgOvernight to visit a mate 260325 Day 2 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...92a93563_z.jpgOvernight visit to a mate 260325 Day 2a I wanted to try and use the bit of the M6 which is open (as it's all not open). I have done it in the car but I was going to try and get on with the bike. Bikes on Toll Roads are not allowed....but it's not a toll yet! Anyway I got turned round by some security so I had to use the old highway, the 2 and then the 201 all the way home. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...efe4c901_z.jpgIMG_1218 Rest Stop on the 2, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a56cb03f_z.jpgIMG_1220 The M6 raised up in the photo background https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4d441f86_z.jpgIMG_1221 by https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8a9cac9b_z.jpgIMG_1222 Lam Ta Khlong Dam Reservoir, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ac42a4ba_z.jpgIMG_1223 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...090b28fd_z.jpgIMG_1225 This was in the parking area near the Reservoir https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...58a96d33_z.jpgIMG_1226 I am not sure what is says but I will try and get it translated It was not a very eventful ride back , but it is what it is and all part of the journey. A 6 Day trip to follow part of the River Ping downstream
A 6 Day trip to follow part of the River Ping downstream 29/04/25
Day 1 The plan was to get up to Chiang Mai then follow the Mae Nam Ping (River Ping) south from CM to Nakhon Sawan where it ends and joins the Mae Nam Nan to become the Mae Nam Chao-Phraya which then goes all the way to Bangkok and into the Gulf of Thailand The Ping originates at Doi Thuai in the Daen Lao Range, which is near the Thai and Myanmar border. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping_River https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...69a3ca4a_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...012ea150_c.jpg After getting my regulation coffee in my flask cup I set off, there was a bit of light rain but it wasn't nothing that was going to stop me from riding, it's been a long time coming. Waterproof jacket on. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1ed876ca_c.jpg Route 12, Nam Nao, Phetchabun, Thailand 14k's to Khon San then onto one off my favourite roads in my local area, the 12 The 12 from Khon San to Wang Thong is a good road to ride, through the mountains then a bit of flat before a nice winding dual carriageway through some more mountains. By the time I had got to the junction of the 2216 on the 12 the mist and rain had gone, it was still a bit cloudy, but the roads were drying. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7034e0ee_c.jpg Route 12, Phu Pha Daeng Wildlife Preserve Area, Lom Sak, Phetchabun, Thailand I took the ring road, the 126, north of Phitsanulok before getting back on the 12 towards Sukhothai. I've been to Sukhothai before on my very first Thailand ride at the end of 2014. From the 12 I got on to the 125 which took me on to the 101 heading north. I stayed on the 101 until Sawankhlok and picked up the 106 all the way into Thoen for my first nights accommodation https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d7b00f71_c.jpg Junction of the 1370 and 106, Sawankhalok, Sukhothai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...30fdfc98_c.jpg The 106 I believe was previously the 1048 and on some mapping it may still be that...Apple maps and my older Reise Thailand paper map. It starts of quite flat with some long straight areas then goes into a valley before winding up over the mountains before you get you Thoen, it was a good road with some nice scenery. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7c0f7a56_c.jpg On the 106, Thung Saliam, Sukhothai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...afccc93a_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7ce4a33a_c.jpg On the 106, Thoen, Lampang, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...359b1e81_c.jpg Once in Thoen I went hunting for a room. Undercover bike parking, is the important part for me, then a/c and a good shower. Also a supermarket or 7eleven is good. I found the Baan Hong Non Guest House, N17.62216 E.99.23686 500 Baht per night. Parking was good and it ticked all my other boxes, Lotus supermarket opposite and a 7eleven about 300 meters down the road at a PTT garage. The room was clean and tidy, with a balcony https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9c399b50_c.jpg Outside the Hotel, Thoen, Lampang, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...df7740ee_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...22749acb_c.jpg Wayne |

Day 2 Thoen to Chiang Mai https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...693a5dcc_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...311d731c_c.jpg I set off quite early as I was going to meet some other expat bikers for a brew at the Yellow Coffee Truck, then on getting in to Chiang Mai I was going to get my chain adjusted at Honda Big Bike. The 1 was first up heading north towards Lampang. Dual carriageway through the mountains although I didn't find it as good as the 12. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8d9c8722_c.jpg On the 1, Thoen, Lampang, Thailand Once I got near to Ko Kha I went on to the 1034. In the town I stopped for some breakfast as I was pretty hungry. I had one of my favourite dishes which is sliced crispy belly pork cooked with a variety of sauces and chilli over jasmine rice. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e688bf62_c.jpg Food place, Ko Kha, Lampang, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4acf08b2_c.jpg Crispy Belly pork fried with spices and Jasmine rice Suitably refreshed it was back on the 1034, nothing much happening on this road, I was just using it as a cut across to the 11. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1b4ef0f7_c.jpg On the 1034, looking at the Wang River, Ko Kha, Lampang, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...47d94992_c.jpg The 11 is a 2/3 lane road and it was quite busy. But it did afford some nice views and some sweeping corners to keep it interesting. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...dcf2d62a_c.jpg Route 11, Hang Chat, Lampang, Thailand I stayed on the 11 until the Doi Saket junction then a short dash on the 118 into the town. Doi Saket is where I was meeting up with some guys for a brew. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...639f654d_c.jpg The Yellow Coffee Truck, just off the 118, Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c96d6fd6_c.jpg After a good natter and 2 coffees it was time to head into CM to get the chain done. Back on the 118 and straight into CM, it only took about 25 mins. Honda Big Wing N18.78784 E98.99180 were very helpful and adjusted my chain and lubed it up for no charge. I did give the mechanic some money for a beer or coffee. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5fa5a819_c.jpg Honda BigWing, Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, Thailand Time to look for a room, I had a rough idea and I had found a possible place on bookingdotcom but I wanted to look at the parking arrangements Parking was good, so I stayed. Casa Marocc Hotel N18.77030 E98.99981 A great hotel with a Moroccan feel to it, including in the room. Everything works well. Clean and tidy with undercover parking. Day 3 Chaing Mai to Li https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...47895011_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3d7817da_c.jpg Breakfast at the hotel was good and a nice to have before riding. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9717e628_c.jpg The plan today was to get to Li which was not far if you stayed on the major roads. But I wanted to ride along the Mae Nam Ping (River Ping) so lots of small roads with poor average speeds. I picked up the edge of the Ping about 1km from my hotel, although it starts more north than Chiang Mai as stated on Day 1 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...148d579b_c.jpg My first view of the River Ping, Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, Thailand After negotiating CM along the river I eventually picked up the 4032 along the western edge of the river. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a731825f_c.jpg On the 4032, Hang Dong, Chiang Mai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e8f68fe1_c.jpg Still on the 4032, Hang Dong, Chiang Mai, Thailand I then nipped onto the 116 for a short while to go over the bridge where I picked up the 1156 on the eastern side. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9a3d53f5_c.jpg On a bridge on the 116, Ping River, San Pa Tong, Chiang Mai, Thailand The plan was to cross a bridge on the 3003 and head into Chom Thong but when I had got there the bridge had collapsed. So I had to double back a few k's and cross a smaller bridge and use the 108 for a bit into Chom Thong https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ee3338ce_c.jpg On a minor road off the 3003, Wiang Nong Long, Lamphun, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...88789e05_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c42ca93d_c.jpg On the bridge heading to Chom Thong, Chiang Mai, Thailand I then stayed on the 108 to Hot, where I stopped for a coffee The 108 on the other side of Hot became the 1012 and I followed that until the pick entered the Doi Tao Lake at this point I got on to the 4010 and 1103 skirting the eastern edge of the lake. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8d6abde8_c.jpg On the 4010, Hot, Chiang Mai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e3a27967_c.jpg Looking towards the Doi Tao Lake, Hot, Chiang Mai, Thailand I stopped of at area on the lake but there was not a lot going on and IMO not worth the visit, the roads were good though. The reason I went to the lake is because the Ping forms it then disappears in to the mountains at the other side of the lake. I looked for a way to follow it through the mountains but there seem to be no roads. Although there may have been tracks I couldn't find I didn't think it was worth trying to find them on your own with a heavy bike. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bb907514_c.jpg Doi Tao Lake, Hot, Chiang Mai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...57cc640f_c.jpg I stayed on the 1103 until the 4022 and past the small Mae Hat Reservoir and on to the 3008 all the way into Li for my next nights stop. The 4022 and 3008 were nice roads to ride and in places had some nice new black top. The views were good for most of those roads https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...68802312_c.jpg On the 4022, Doi Tao, Chiang Mai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5ed5a4d1_c.jpg Still on the 4022, Doi Tao, Chiang Mai, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d6789898_c.jpg On the 3008, Li, Lamphun, Thailand I found a really nice place for 450baht with breakfast and great parking for the bike but no WiFi, so that was a big no for me. After riding around I eventually found.. Rung Sapphire Linna Resort N17.80764 E98.94258 Found this by accident as it's not on Apple or Google maps unless the coords are incorrect on the mapping as it shows one next door There is a 7/11, Big C mini and a lotus mini on the main road about 10/15 mins walk Nice clean rooms Boiling vessel for hot water provided WiFi is mediocre. A/C works well There is undercover parking but not near the room, so I got the bike under the overhang right outside the room 600 baht https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b1b0e3d0_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4607d512_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...69d9ae9f_c.jpg Wayne |
A 6 Day trip to follow part of the River Ping downstream
Day 4 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d7ac3b7c_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d89b7519_c.jpg I set off for Tak after a good breakfast at the same place I had food last night Last night was Crispy belly pork cooked in a red curry paste with Jasmine rice This morning I has Chicken fried rice with a fried egg Well worth a stop for food if you're in the area Khun Daeng's Kitchen N17.80491 E98.94697 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ec0efd75_c.jpg Khun Daeng's Kitchen N17.80491 E98.94697,Wang Din, Li, Lamphun, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0b0ce79a_c.jpg Tak wasn't that far away and I would have been there relatively quickly if I had stayed on the main roads. The 106 from Li to Thoen (where I stayed at the end of day 1), was not a bad road to ride, once in the mountains it got twisty with some good views. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...de2f6c85_c.jpg On the 106, Dong Dam, Lamphun, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...78b7bcd7_c.jpg Still on the 106, Thoen District, Lampang, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c41672f9_c.jpg On another part of the 106, Thoen District, Lampang, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ffee3999_c.jpg After a coffee in Thoen I picked up the 1102 along the edge of the Wang River rather than stay on the 1 which is a major artery route, it was a nice road to ride and far better than the alternative https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...305d0e8b_c.jpg The River Wang, Thoen Buri, Lampang, Thailand I did eventually join the 1 at Mae Phrik but only for a short blast to the junction with the 1357 towards the Bhumibol Dam. I went there mainly because the Ping came out of the Bhumibol Reservoir and it's where I found I could start to follow it again. The dam and reservoir were good to look at once there, there is a bit of a market there also food places and a coffee shop. It's quite a big area overall. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f340e6e6_c.jpg Bhumibol Dam, where the River Ping starts again, Sam Ngao District, Tak, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e0e3c1ba_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3837ea71_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2fa5bb00_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e1875e86_c.jpg Just downstream from the dam, River Ping, Sam Ngao District, Tak, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...6e7580e5_c.jpg When I left the dam I picked up the 1107 on the western edge of the Ping all the way into Tak and my night stopover https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0b7a69ca_c.jpg On the 1107, River Ping at Nong Bua Nuea, Mueang Tak District, Tak, Thailand Berich Hotel N16.88345 E99.12262 A nice hotel, big room, breakfast included in the price double rooms 690 baht but they were all booked so I ended up with a twin at 790. They are on bookingdotcom but I walked in. WiFi and A/C are good, staff friendly 7eleven and a lotus about a 15 min walk Bike is parked undercover right outside reception https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d881b1a8_c.jpg BeRich Hotel, Tak, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...34b41c84_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8fe4e269_c.jpg Wayne |
A 6 Day trip to follow part of the River Ping downstream
Day 5 Finishing the River Ping https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...04c44341_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...94b4e3d4_c.jpg After breakfast at the hotel I went to find the 3005 which was going to take me along the eastern side of the river https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...03d7ef19_c.jpg The first part of the 3005, for about 20km was just like an ultra long row of house on both sides of the road with lots of dogs roaming about. But it was still better than sitting on a highway. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c7eb1b98_c.jpg On the 3005, Mueang Tak District, Tak, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f6c46981_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...07caa1ae_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...876cd016_c.jpg Over the Ping River, Mueang Kamphaeng Phet, Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand Just before Wang Chao I turned on to the 3002 which took me all the way into Kamphaeng Phet. At Kamphaeng Phet I rode around the periphery of the Historical Park, a lot of history here and old buildings and temples part of the ancient city which was there. I didn't go in as it would have taken too long to go around. It's a bit like Sukhothai Historical Park and I was there in 2014 The dual pricing system was 20 baht for Thais and 100 baht for foreigners If you want to ride your motorcycle around the park it's an extra 20 baht https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8d27d6c7_c.jpg Parts of the Historical City, Mueang Kamphaeng Phet, Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e8c5618e_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...fbaf02ef_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...80a1b093_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ff02a64d_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...99cf84de_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c6c44f2b_c.jpg From Kamphaeng Phet I took the 1084 to Wang Khaem where I was going to pick up the 1052 on the western edge but yet another bridge was down so I had to continue down the 1084, which to be honest was a bit boring in places. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b3f1acbe_c.jpg Another bridge down, Khlong Khlung, Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e37481bf_c.jpg On the 1084, Khanu Woralaksaburi, Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand I got on to the 4054 and skirted the edge of the river, under the 122, and carried to the 117 where I used the 117 bridge to pick up a road on the western edge all the way into Nakhon Sawan. I stayed on this road until the River Ping ended. The Rivers Ping and Nan join together in Nakhon Sawan to form the Chao-Phraya which then goes all the way to Bangkok and into the Gulf of Thailand. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e4372785_c.jpg Where the Rivers Ping and Nan meet to form the Chao-Praya, Mueang Nakhonsawan, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...57dbbe7d_c.jpg Where the Chao-Praya River starts, Mueang Nakhonsawan, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand I then looked for a place to stay, I decided on Rank Khun Resort 2. N15.70752 E100.13054 Brightly coloured room which are a reasonable size WiFi is good as is the A/C and shower Different prices depending on what you want, I went with the room with the car port attached, 595 baht including breakfast There a few local food eating places nearby and 7eleven about a 3 minute walk away https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8570bd28_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...003b23dc_c.jpg Glad I didn't get a pink one https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8972cc82_c.jpg Wayne |
A 6 Day trip to follow part of the River Ping downstream
Day 6 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...df591d0c_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...31118526_c.jpg The trip home was uneventfully as it generally is when I am on my way back. I don’t know what it is but when I am away for a short time or even on my previous longer trips I find that I just want to get home so I can just get sorted out and relax. Whereas on the trip I am quite happy moseying along. I left after I had finished my breakfast at the place I stayed in last night. It was fine, there were several hot dishes to choose from with boiled rice, bread for toast, water and coffee. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...32ea5681_c.jpg It was still quite busy for early on a Sunday morning and getting out of the city was slower than expected. The route today was chosen by Apple Maps, so it was pretty straight forward. Out of the city, on to the 225 which in the early stages too me through a bit of a wet land area. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0ab2044a_c.jpg On the 225, Mueang Nakhon Sawan District, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b7265f8a_c.jpg Still on the 225, Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a4c89392_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...386f4265_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...49b5a000_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...973a0e13_c.jpg The 225, Bueng Sam Phan District, Phetchabun, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...91853fa2_c.jpg Then it was on to the 21 in the direction of Phetchuabun, using the 234 ring road to the west of Phetchuabun, then on to the Lom Sak junction where I slung a right onto one of my favorite stretches on the 12. Once at Khon San it was on to the 2004 and home. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...55dfb3b2_c.jpg On the 21, Nong Phai, Phetchabun, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2944da40_c.jpg The 234, Mueang Phetchabun District, Phetchabun, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0ea3fe92_c.jpg Back on the 12 and nearly home, Phu Pha Daeng Wildlife Preserve Area, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun, Thailand https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8e7c6a6a_c.jpg The roads today were not that exciting, long stretches of nothing with the odd small hill range thrown in for good measure, but if you blinked you missed them. Until the 12..then it was back to some nice winding roads on the outer edge of the Nam Nao National Park all the way to the Khon San junction. 1626km covered on this trip Wayne |
