Roads in Turkey
 

Hello there!

After a very nice stay in Iran, it is soon time for me to go back home! :mchappy:
In 2 or 3 days, I will pass the Turkey border at Esendere (from Iran)

I planned to go to Van, Tatvan, Nemrut Dag and Gorëme.

If any of you took this road recently and can give me informations about the road quality, a nice place to stay at night, it will be helpful!

Or if you have any other suggestions, let me know!

Also, after Kayseri, I don't really know how I can arrive in Grece easily!
Istanbul has been very tiring the first time I travel through...
Does someone has a nice road to suggest? (Not too much kilometers, I would like to keep my tires until I come home!)

Wrong border gate choice from iran to turkey...

Military operations around van and tatvan and the roads are closed partly, for a couple of days each time when there is an action.
Also several military check points that will cause you loose much time..
Keep away from noisy crowds and cloudy points on the road in your horizon..

So:
1- make it west through mardin,urfa,adıyaman for mount nemrut as fast as you can.Or better disclude mount nemrut and get the seaside road
(inc. urfa,gaziantep,mersin toll road) to south west anatolia..

a-to çeşme tr. to get the ferry to chios gr. island...

TIPS..:
1-Credit card doesnt work in greece so better have more cash in pocket..
2-You may not meet regular ferry runs to greece main land because of the economy problems..Better book or get confirmation online from islands to greece..

2-you can make greece faster through çanakkale keşan ipsala.. 1,5 days comfortable ride from bodrum...

It's not really a good news for me!... I don't want to pass near Gaziantep...
Do you think it's safer to go directly to the north from the border?
Van, Dogubayazit, Agri, erzurum trabzon etc... and then pass through Istanbul to Greece?

everyday announcements on tv.s about prohibited parts of the road for operations between hakkari and doğubeyazıt and diyarbakır erzıncan cities.

Everyday 6-35 turkish soldiers loosing lives during operations there since 15-20 days..

now its not the matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time..
there is a war on different parts of the blocked roads which are connecting south east anatolia to mid anatolia..

If you enter turkey in these days from that gate, head west as fast as possible,obey what you are told at checkpoints.
If you can,make armenia,georgia then blacksea coastline road to istanbul...

Hi Mehmet! Do you happen to have any news about the area around Lake Van? Roads still closed? I would love to go there, but it seems I have to skip it for this trip, sadly.
Do you know if the border at Dogubeyazit is open?

The middle and south gates between iran are both closed.Gürbulak-bezirgan gate ok..exit from turkey to iran is ok but İran doesnt let iranian number plated vehicles and iranians to enter turkey..dont know anything for other citizenships...

Its highly recommended to take gürbulak erzurum,erzincan,sivas main road to west as soon as possible.

Military operation around all the roads from north ıgdır to hakkari thats parallel to iranian borderlines and these roads are closed for 3 more days as announced on tv.since yesterday...all news about operations are prohibited on media.
