Moto trip from Las Cruces, NM to Ushuaia, Argentina

This is a Link to two albums I have on Facebook that cover a ride I did from Las Cruces, New Mexico to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina & then back up to Buenos Aires, Arg. I started the ride on January 14, 2009 & finished it on May 9, 2009. I did the trip on a 2007 Yamaha XT225. I was 66 YO when I started & turned 67 when I was in Ushuaia. It was a hell of a trip. I didn't do a blog & when I got back I started writing a report once I got a few problems straightened out. Due to all kinds of problems I didn't get it done (not really done yet) till May 2010. What I wrote was more like a book, 56800+ words. I was thinking of putting it on some Web Site or get my own site, but either way there is still a lot left to do getting the pictures into it. What I have done in the mean time is set up two Facebook photo albums with the pictures in chronological order. The first album, Part 1 with 194 photos, covers the trip from Las Cruces to where I reached Ushuaia. The second album, Part 2 with 75 photos, covers Ushuaia & the trip to Buenos Aires & home to Las Cruces. Each picture has a caption under it describing when, where & what was going on in the pic & also other things. It is actually a good way to follow this trip, sort of a picture book. You don't have to belong to Facebook to see the photos. There are Links that connect you directly to the each album. For me this was an epic ride & I hope you enjoy the story. The instructions with the Links follows:

The following Links take you to photo albums on Facebook without having to join Facebook.
The two albums chronologically cover a motorcycle trip I took January 14 through May 9, 2009. I rode from Las Cruces, New Mexico down through Mexico, Central America & South America to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina & then up Buenos Aires, Argentina. The trip included 14 countries & I rode 13444 miles on my 2007 Yamaha XT225 moto.
The albums are:
Part 1 Moto Trip to Ushuaia, Argentina It covers the ride from Las Cruces, NM to Ushuaia, Argentina.

There are captions below each picture & you may need to use the scroll bar to see them.
Click on the small picture to enlarge it & after that just click on the large picture to advance to the next picture or use the Previous Next at the top right of the picture to go back or forward.
(I know these instructions are not needed by most people, but I’ve had some that didn’t know.)

Fabulous!

Hi Pete! I have to say that your report is most refreshing! Just an average "Joe" on an average bike, undertaking the trip of a lifetime....excellent job! I recently moved from your area and wish we had met when I lived out that way!

I am so happy you made it home in one piece. You traveled at my own personal pace as well. Just wonderful!

I would love to hear about a few of the preps you made...gear, bike and so forth. How did you make out on costs?

Hope you are well....Ornery

Thanks so much for posting the pics Pete.
We're planning a similar trip - date unknown - and thinking smaller bikes. Love to read about your preps and experience on the 225.
Please let us know when and where you post your story.

Congratulations on your safe return!

Booysen Yamaha XT250 ( Chicita )

Wow Pete, what a great story you told! That is my dream trip. I am 57 years old and ride a 2009 Yamaha XT 250 in Onrario, Canada, what a great bike. I will be going to work in Mexico January 2011 for 3 years. And do have Honda 150 cc Bros there! When my work stint is over I am planning to do the same trip in 2014, You have been an inspiration with the way you told your story and I thank you for that.
