I presented the model of my solar thermal powered car at the science and engineering exhibition at the University here in La Paz. I was very happy with how many people were interested in the design.

On the second day of the solar thermal workshop one group was able to heat a pipe up to 150c using only cardboard, aluminum foil and the sun. We tested the other units and ensured the focused light formed a line of concentrated light at the middle of the pipe.

In this solar thermal powered car video I compare the heat when the model mirror is fixed and automatically sun tracks.

In this test I use the small solar thermal car model to compare the temperature with and without glass and trapped air insulation. Half the pipe is in a glass pipe and the other half is not. The pipe receives the same amount of focused light but the glass section was about 20c hotter.

I have finished the structure of the solar thermal car test unit. In this video I introduce the test unit and show how I built it.

For the solar thermal car test unit I am building an electric hot oil pump out of garbage car parts. Have a look at the video below.

I have successfully pumped oil at 150 degrees celsius with my homemade oil pump. Now I can install it into my solar thermal car test unit and pump hot oil to boil water and run a stream turbine. The Solar thermal car is really starting to come together. Please have a look at the video below.

Its alive. The large solar thermal test mirror rotates. A powerful motor rotates the mirror and locks it in position so its on target with the sun. A similar system will be used on the 24 foot long solar thermal car mirror. Have a look at the video of it working, below.

Another article was written on my solar thermal car. The article covers what I want to do with this project.

When I was 12 years old I built a small car out of a broken walkman and some garbage. I recently built a replica of that car. Building this car when I was a child really helped spark my love for engineering and building things from what people consider as garbage. I hope I can spark this love for engineering in children. I will be giving this car to a child and hope it will spark some interest in them.

Today our solar thermal car website is ready. There are still a few things to add but almost all the initial info is there. There are 80 pages, lots of pictures and 20,000 words explaining things in great depth. Please everyone have a look and tell us what you think of the site.

My first DIY wind turbine video is finished. In this video I build wood wind turbine blades and test them out on my roof.

I also build a small metal turbine and create power.

I made a how to video on making homemade wood wind turbine blades. They can be built very easily, for a few dollars and be used to produce power from the wind.

I built a homemade electric generator out of a magnetic knife rack and a broken motor. Its no very powerful but now I know how to build a powerful one and produce free electricity from the wind.
