Five Countries In Four Days

In June 2015 I rented a KTM 1050 Adventure from Utrecht in the Netherlands and rode across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Germany. A total of 1,960 kms in four days. Here are some of the pictures I clicked along the way.

Another set of pictures I enjoyed looking through. We've toured round that area quite a bit over the last few years while my son has been at Uni in Amsterdam so it has a sense of familiarity as well.

It did get me wondering though that while you did 2000km through the five countries, what's the shortest distance you could visit the five of them in. No practical reason for this, just curiosity. I'll see if I can trace out a route on Google maps.

Not sure what you mean by arch. Can you clarify which picture?

Here is a map I just recreated laying my route as best I can remember.

As you can see I jumped into France and back into Belgium a couple of times. Didn't really ride through it in a major way. During the ride the only thing I knew was the name of the hotel where I would sleep that night. I needed safe parking for the bike. So I booked the hotel the previous night.

Apart from that I let the GPS take me around. I used a mixture of the "shortest time" and the "shortest distance" routing modes to ride on freeways and village roads respectively. It was fun wrestling with the GPS from time to time. :-)

Nice Trip

I was in that area quite a bit in the late 60's while in the Air Force. However, had to see those sites from the window of a 1949 Volkswagon beattle Sans Wind turbines.
