Finally did it after 36 years of thinking

I am not a adventure biker and never have been one, but I am now practicing
I quit my job in Canada to take on a new job in Colombia with a Canadian company that does geophysical work for the Colombian government
I was here in 1981 doing a different adventure checking it out and it was dangerous
I have been all over this country working and noticed the roads are every where
So i bought a 650 bmw to explore and what a gift that was to my soul
the people here are simply Beautiful and the roads are good
you could spend 10 years exploring this county and not run out of roads
Are there any adventurous people besides the RTW group that has done this
I know of one in Medejjin Colombia that quit job and moved to Colombia and biked all over the place then went to work to be culturally involved with the country
i am not talking about expats with pensions I am talking about people that want to be citizens of foreign countries
i hope you come to Colombia and have a good time

Fellow Canuck here ...When did you quit your job in Canada and how long have you been in Colombia? I admire people who can just move off to a new life. After 27 years working for the same company, I'm just about ready for a change of lifestyle.
Good for you!

A couple of people I know have taken UK pensions to live in eastern Europe. The low cost of living means they can live well there on far less money than at home. I'm also aware of a guy who did that some years earlier, but got sick as he got older, was unable to afford medical repatriation to UK and ended up dying in a squalid dirty hospital ward. So it ain't all roses.
