I have just ridden from the UK to Goa, India. On a BMW 1200gs, Passing through Iran and Pakistan.

Really I just wanted to say the journey is still very possible. The Pakistan visa is tough to get... I didn't mention motorcycles or crossing from Iran!

A few photos below. 27 days Loughborough, England to Arambol, Goa, India.
approximately 7200 miles

If you are planning a trip to India take a look at my blog david2somewhere ..... David's 2013 overland motorcycle trip England to India on a BMW 1200 gs

Enjoy your adventures, any questions about riding to India, send me a message

Peace, David

Love to do that trip. Maybe one day.
But, how did you get back?

I left the bike in India. I flew back to the UK and will return in a few months to continue riding in India and then send it onto Thailand for a ride down to Australia. If anyone has good contacts for shipping from India to Thailand I would love the info.

Regards, D

Ride it from India straight into Nepal, Then fly it to Bangkok with Eagle Eyes shipping (check out shipping thread). Will cost a few quid for the air freight. Have heard of sea freight from Calcutta to Port Klang near KL. Good luck with that!

Well done on trip so far and all on cast alloy wheels, you little tinker 'breaking' all those forum 'rules':smiliex:

Hi KateandWill,
Thanks for the royal reply.
I will check out EagleEyes.
Those alloys.... I think, finally you just get on a motorcycle and ride it. The alloys might crack or a talibani might kidnap you but it's more likely to be a black buffalo on an unlit road or a truck driver overtaking a truck overtaking a truck.
You've got to be a little vary about those forums!

Peace D

Shipping my bmw 1200 gs back to the UK from India

I decided to end my ride in India because of mounting work commitments.
I have shipped my bike back by sea freight. It is currently with Customs at Felixstowe. So far the service from the Indian Agent I have used has been superb.

I will do a shipping report in the right place on the HUBB shortly...

Peace David
