Australia - Singapore bike shipping

Hi, we have just shipped our 2 bikes, a BMWR80GS and Yamaha XT250 from Darwin to Singapore. We literally missed the boat to East Timor, that's why we shipped to Singapore as the shipping company couldn't give us a confirmed date for the next ship to East Timor. We thought it a better option as to stay in Darwin at this time of the year is a very costly exercise.
Price for the BMW from Darwin to Singapore was $508, Yamaha $496. Costs at the other end for the BMW $125, Yamaha $116. Shipping and port costs only.

The following prices will be given in SGD Singapore dollars.
These are the costs for riding the bike in Singapore..............
Insurance for 1 month in Singapore for BMW, $204, Yamaha $160. International Circulation Permit (ICP) $53.50 x 2, LTA Autopass card $10 x2, port entry permit $3 x2. Then there is the price of fuel, $2.16 litre.

You also have the option of having the bike towed to the Malaysian border, Causeway crossing into Johor.
Costs involved for this, $288 for each bike, on the same truck. No insurance necessary, but all of the other above costs apply. Also expect to pay around $70 in taxi fares to get from one office to the others to organise all the appropriate paperwork and lose at least 2 days of your life in the process!!!

Note, that we did ship with Carnets for both bikes.

Hope this info will be of help or interest to someone out there!!!!!

Great info, but you could add info about the shipping agent(s) you used, and the name of the company, who did the actual shipping. Just a suggestion.

Plus this great info is now in ´Ride Tales´, a place, where few who would benefit, will find it, so maybe the mods should move this to:

If it was Toll, it was probably because the boat broke down! Our bike is sitting in Dili awaiting the first leg shipment to Singapore (then Vancouver). I think it'll be another week + before it goes. Dili is tricky because the ships don't like to stop there on the Darwin-Singapore route. Depends on demand & the stop gets cancelled often as well.

Good luck with the red tape in Singapore. There is a very nice biker bar on the north side of the island - the Handlebar. good food:)

Thank you

How long did it take for the shipping to reach Singapore?
