KRP : Kaulson Racing Products

(its very well hidden - take a tuk-tuk to guide you there!)

I needed a new front tyre, which they had in my size and could fit on the spot. They also fixed my damaged sidestand (for free) and had the engine oil I needed.

In fact, they stock tyres and spareparts for all sorts of bikes, have a huge workshop and are very experienced with big and/or overlander bikes. What they dont have, they can order and if you need assistance with crating/ shipping, they can do that as well. Many many overlanders have been to their shop and the first thing Vijay, one of the owners, did when I visited them last month was showing me pcitures on his computer of all the travellers he helped over the years...;-)

Highly recommended!

130/80/17 - Dual purpose tyre in Delhi

Hi,

as a follow up and update to my previous post:

I ordered a new rear tyre through Kaulson Racing, which was due to be shipped to Lahore, Pakistan, in the next few days.

By pure chance and luck I was able to find a tyre here in Islamabad (see my other post, Tyres in Islamabad), and had to cancel that order.

So, if anyone needs a 130/80/17, tubeless, dual purpose tyre, its available immediately and ready for pick up and shipping at Kaulson Racing!

Cheers,

Robert

K.r.p.

Their coordinates:
N 28o 37.912’
E 077o 08.091’
It doesn’t look like a motorcycle shop. From the one side you will see a company transporting loads. Walk on the right of that company and turn left at the door you will see at the end.

I read about all the great experiences travelers had with K.R.P. but unfortunately my experiences were not so great.. I visited them three times during the 8 months I was traveling in India. If you only want to buy spare parts, it’s easy. You just have to pay a lot of money, more than in western countries. It’s about 25% more expensive than the prices in the western world because they just import them from there.

If you want to make repairs, it’s not so easy. Everytime I was visiting them, they were telling me that the bike will be ready in a day and it was ready after one week. I was calling them every day. They told me “Everything is ready! We finished all the repairs and we are just waiting to receive the oil cap.”. After two days they told me “We received the oil cap and we are working now to do the other repairs.”. So, I heard a lot of lies.

The third time I visited them I asked them to fix the diaphragm of the carburetor. It would take again one day. Finally, after about five days they took 850 Rupees and I saw that the diaphragm was not fixed. The bike was working with half power, as before. Although, they didn’t feel any shame to take 850 Rupees when it is only 100 Rupees to fix a flat tire in a usual repair shop.

I asked them also to check if the wheel bearings were OK and if they are not OK, I asked them to change them. If they were OK, I asked them to grease them. I know now that they didn't even check them. 10,000 kms later the rear wheel bearing broke in the middle of the mountains of Tajikistan and I had to travel 420 kms. without wheel bearing!!! As a result the center of the wheel broke and it took me 4 days to arrive in the first city where I could repair the disaster.

I know some of you had diferrent experiences and of course they showed me, as they do with everyone, the countless photos on their computer of happy customers but that's my experience, unfortunately. Last visit was on June 2008. I hope they 'll become more honest.

For low quality tyres, some basic accessories and plenty of spare parts for indian motorcycles your best bet is the region of Karol Bagh in Delhi (N 28o 38.847’, E 077o 11.669’). If you don’t use GPS, when you arrive in the region ask anyone where are the repair shops.

There are lots of mechanics in Karol Bagh Naiwala area but for only small Honda, TVS, Scooters and Royal Enfield. There would be only one mechanic to search for with international bikes and this is BAWA Auto Traders 1829-49 Naiwala , New Delhi - 110005

We visited Kaulson recently and they amazingly had a spare fuel pump for us. They are very friendly and helpful, definitely recommend for a pit stop.
