Excellent repair shop in Asuncion!

I Just got my chain repaired at a mechanic shop in the center of Asuncion. German descents owned, the father has been in the business for the last 50 years and the son is a local motorcycle champion.

It was quick, very professional, reasonable prices. I used to advise Klein but he s gone way too big and is getting a lower reputation since he doesnt take care of repairs himself anymore.

The mechanic is called JD ALSINA, located at Independencia Nacional number 953, fairly close to the center. Phone : 449 623.

Highly advisable and trustable.

i'm currently living in paraguay as a peace corps volunteer and thinking of shipping my bike down to travel back stateside afterwards. could you tell me what are the prices for repairs and parts like at this shop compared to shops in the states?

i'm trying to decide if i should ship my bike down or purchase a bike from another traveler. i have a 2001 bmw f650gs, and i know that it will need a bit of work (valve adjustments, new brakes, sprockets, chain etc) because i did a 17,000 mile trip before starting my service. i won't be able to do the repairs in the states.

i'd really appreciate any tips or advice!

This is a repair shop, they don t sell parts. Imported parts in Py cost more than in the US due to higher import tariffs. Labour obviously cost way less, this shop is more expensive than others due to the higher qualification of owners. Count something like 10 USD per hour for a qualified job.

After a trip to Bolivia and back thru the transchaco, i had my motorcycle checked once again at ALSINA.

The bike was all dirty from the Chaco dust, no brakes, the rear carrier broken, electric problems occuring frequently. I just stepped in yesterday night and left the bike, got it back today : ALL NEW! They cleaned it ALL with gasoline, adjusted the valves, changed all break pads, organised the wires in a "civilised" and rational way, wielded and painted the wield of the luggage rack (invisible), cleaned adjusted and lubed the chain, tried the bike...

Damage for the excellent and quick job by a team of perfectionist and honest mecanics, parts and service : 250 guaranis, 40 Euros! I thought i wouldnt have enough with the 1000 g i brought, since i didnt ask for the price before and couldnt believe what they said. In Brazil, the break pads alone would have cost 60 Euros.

Top class service

After kicking the shit out of my klr for 4 days in constant rain, they did a full service in one day and brought it back to life. A few days later, still in asuncion, i had an accident. They helped me again repairing everything and didn´t even thought about charging me money again. Brilliant lads, top class mechanic. The place to go in that area.

I went today to see him. Extremely friendly, the workshop is very clean, professional and well managed. I got fixed my radiator and my clutch wire for 50€, same day delivery. A bit expensive for Paraguayan standards, but an awesome job, you are paying for quality.
