Colombia, Tulua (1hr north of Cali) old school mechanic, incl R-series BMW
 

I ride an BMW R80 G/S 1981.

Having struck gold (thanks to the HUBB) and found Carlos Arias of Technimoto in Quito, a mechanic who owns an R80, I also found Antonio Correal in Tulua, just off the main highway heading north out of Cali. Lovely guy, around 55, who had four BMW R-series bikes in his workshop. He's worked on them for years, along with cars.

I needed my timing double-checked. He repaired a leaky carb for me (re-adjusted the float) and double-checked the mixture settings and balance. I felt like his apprentice as he explained what he was doing (Spanish).

And then refused to take any payment! Another friend in the world, he said.
