Could be because the system is too outdated and might need Service Pack 3. Or you could simply download Ubuntu for free and install it on your computer. Saves you a lot of money and you'll end up with the same thing.

ubuntu is nice. i used to use it. however, it wont support mapsource and nokia pc suite. :(

It's the other way around. Those apps won't support Linux because most companies don't care about it at all. You might be able to run it via wine and if all fails there's always VirtualBox or VMware
