which Internet site to stock pictureson the net

Hi eveybody,

I'm planning to travel 4 months around South America and i would like to share several pictures with friend within exloding their hotmail adress.

I know that there are several sites that allow you to share photos free of charge. (ex http://adobe.shutterfly.com or http://www.ofoto.com).

Is there any other that you recommend? infinitve capacity, big size of pictures, possibility to add comments are a must.

Thank you for your advices and i wish you an excellent new year
Ciao Michel

Nice to have

Smugmug works well for many people. I've used it for the past year with no problems, cost is US$30 per year.

You can create as many galleries (albums) as you want, under a wide selection of topics. I tend to organise my photos by country / city / subject.

Once you've created a gallery & uploaded the photos (various options), you can modify the photos & customise the gallery i.e. adding text to each photo or a text forward to the gallery as a whole. IMO the cost is worth it.

Here's a link to my photo galleries, feel free to browse through them to get a better idea:

Hope this helps,
If you have a Yahoo Email address , Yahoo Photos does a farily good job of storing photos.
Though the resolution is reduced, I would recommend it because it is fast! and also it can be well integrated to your Yahoo Mail ID.

But yes there is a disadvantage you cannot add comments. If I were you and I was a bit more net savvy than I am now, I woudl upload them on my Bolg at www.blogger.com ! Unlimited storage space, best quality and you can add comments, stories just about anything you wish!

hey,

just a thought, try flickr.com you can upgrade to a pro account for like $30 US a year, which mean unlimited uploading, more space and all that jazz, and you can have private as well as public photo galleries. people can add comments too, which is great if they are positive...

good luck, i'll be doing the same soon as i'll be in stunning south america in less than a month...

watch this space

cheers

Hi,
I used a Flickr account (their basic free one) at flickr.com which I found to be excellent. You can add comments etc. like said above. I'd point out though, that if you want to store large pictures you'd be better using a mini hard-drive or something. I found it took painfully long to download pix in some internet cafes (Morocco, Turkey, don't even bother in Iran! South America may be different of course) and I'd already 'shopped mine down to about a meg. each.
However, as a sharing online picture album it was great.
Matt

PS: If you want to have a look at mine as an example go to the 'scotlandnepal' link below, and click on the 'more pictures' link.

Try photobucket.com also. Galleries are easy, and links are provided automatically.

Yep, each referral saves the new user $5 on their subscription, and the referrer gets $10 off their renewal.

PM me if you want a code :D

I'll second Photobucket.

Its easy to use and has a relatively simple viewing layout compared to some I've looked at.

And its free up to 1GB I think.

etribes.com

I used etribes....for $30 (well....£14.95) you can load photos till you are bored (10gb i think).

It is also a blog.

You can post pics and movies directly from your mobile phone - you just send it to a particular number.

Pics can be made private or public. Documents can be added. Comments on your posts....pretty much everything can be done!!!

Since getting home, i have a flickr account...but mainly just to put the best ones on.
