Virb remote has seperate buttons for video stop / start and taking stills. Much easier than the gopros remote IMO. Can get a handlebar mount, which on my DL650 is on the left-hand side and is almost close enough to control by use of the thumb.

I mount mine on the bike, so can't comment on the weight / drag vs the gopro, but the screens are much easier to see with my aging eyes, and having a viewfinder always attached is a a bonus.
