3rd party photo hosting sites
Hello, I'm still getting the same problem when posting photo's here on HU of the pics turning 90 degree's sideways so any suggested third party hosting sites to sort out issues before uploading onto HU threads please...???? I've had this issue for many years now and had several suggestions but can't find them now so fresh input needed please...???

I’ve been using Postimage.org since Photobucket went, well, berserk some years back. Seems to work ok, although the number of ads getting in the way seems to increase by the day. No complaints though as it is free.

I'll give it a go, thank you.....

I sense
incoming pictures of... bears chasing a honda
Have you tried rotating your pictures before uploading? Irfanview is neat free programs which does all sorts of stuff like that so no real need for hosting your pics elsewhere IMHO |
I use imgur, I don't know if they provide any editing tools though as I usually scale down the photos on a computer or phone first!

I have to say that I am using an Apple account to host my photos, files etc. I suspect that they will be around somewhat longer than I will so there is less risk of losing everything suddenly if the host was to go belly up. No, it is not cheap, but it is hardly massively expensive.
Long term storage can be done on external media (minimum of two copies and one copy in different houses - to cover for fire etc) - with the cost of good quality SD cards being so low it is not that expensive - just make sure that the next computer can actually read the media type. |

Download the free software package called IRFANVIEW
Very intuitive Does what you need |
Blimey, is Irfanview still going? I remember using it back in the mid 90’s. It was ok but that was back in the days of Windows 95. I hope it’s moved on since then.

What's the original source of the photos? iPhone, Android phone or something else?
As far as Apple is concerned you can rotate the image whilst it's still on the iPhone, or if you have uploaded it to a Mac you can use the Preview app to rotate it. You can also use Preview to cut the file size and some other basic tools such as crop, adjust colour, etc. PS: I am moving this thread to the Photo forum (thanks Toyark for the heads up) |
