Hey, that's long bucks - hope you achieve it.

jamieT 21 Jun 2009 15:30

Maybe right

Yeah,
You could be right. Although, if you don't have the time and inclination to build your own machine, this might suit someone.. Also it adds up pretty fast for the big stuff like winch, bumpers, long range tank, fridge, tent, outback drawers, roofrack, spare wheel carrier, cubby box, extra lights etc. As i have no doubt you know.

Maybe it's because I'd like an excuse not to sell. Probably only a year or so away from the next adventure

Its also hard to figure where I fit between recent for "for sales" like the 1993 HDJ 80 at 4750 GBP and HZJ 75 recently at 22000 Euros or indeed the 1995 80 series in may at 13500 GBP (which you replied to BB)

It's all guess work and open to offers. Cheers for the feedback.

I suppose what I am trying to say is that you'll have to be patient.

Yes - That lady advertised with me for a while and I thought it was at the top end of the price bracket then. She then withdrew it from my website and sold it via Ebay - I don't know what the final sale price was. That LC was fully prepped, with twin spare wheel carriers and kitchen sink, but I don't think it had yet been "blooded" and so someone was basically buying a turn key project.

I am always looking, esp at 80's, sometimes for other people and sometimes for myself. I have a constant battle with SWMBO as to whether the money I've got saved in the bank would be better off used buying an 80 in this currently depressed market or, as she wants, sunk into a flat here in Brighton!

Anyway, she keeps winning but until we've signed on the dotted line I'll keep looking.

Nothing really

Knut,

We picked up the car from Matt Savage yesterday, with a fresh MOT, clean bill of health, and all minor problems sorted (OK new batteries and shocks do start getting expensive).

We are simply going to reproof the tent and head off to Scotland for a month. We re away from home until mid August, so more pictures might have to wait (might have some on hard drive though or get someone to take some)). At present the fridge is mounted in place of half the rear seat.

Please pm with an email address and I'll try for pictures.

Cheers

Pictures for everyone!

Hi JamieT,

wondering if you could possibly add some pictures to the forum when you get your hands on them? I'm interested in them too.

Thanks

More pictures of the insides.

Also note that the roof tent has new hinges and was reproofed last week. Standing up perfectly well to all that scottish weather can throw at it.

Although it is a glorious day in Applecross today.

Then I'm taking it back to Egypt.

Update: Another screwed on bit of wheel trim has fallen off, indicator relay buggered hence manual flashing and something is causing rhythmic interference of the stereo.

PM for more details

Toyota 80 in Jordan/Egypt

Sorry all, I tried to edit the title of the original post to reflect the fact that the car is NOT in the UK.

Why not take a chance, miss out the annoying, boring, expensive and possibly dangerous bit and start your trip from Jordan or Cairo.

Car is as above, plus 20K miles, roof tent is a bit more tired (although it had new brackets last year) and I'm replacing the clutch now. All else is fine and regularly serviced.

8000 GBP.

Happy to send V5 to UK, allowing carnet to be acquired and change over in Egypt or Jordan. The simplest plan would be to exit Jordan on my V5 (I seem to have 2) and enter Egypt on the new one or vice versa

I could well be missing something that prevents this happening, feel free to let me know if I'm being dim
