Bike and tips needed for trip El Calafate to Bariloche
 

Hello hello,

I am hoping that someone who has just ended a trip in el calafate will be selling their bike. I will be arriving the 1st of feb 2012 and hoping to purchase a second hand bike, any tips or help.

Also anyway trip suggestions would be great.

I don't want to tell you anything you might already know.....but El Calafate is a wee little place, and there's no earthly reason anyone would finish a trip there. If you're really arriving in a few days you might want to speed read all the previous threads about buying and selling bikes in Argentina and Chile, then act accordingly.

My point remains: why would anyone finish a trip in El Calafate? Just skip the part about reading old threads.

That's quite a few kays to go, and the road is pretty rough at places. IMHO you should take a sturdy MTB along. The airlines usually allow you to take a bicycle along.
