Where to sleep in Kazakhstan?
 

We will cross Kazakhstan from Astracan to Pavlodar but there are no hotels in Booking or internet, only close to big cities: Astana, Atyrau, etc.
Any recommendation? Is it possible to stay in local houses? B&B?
We carry our tent each, so we can camp in the steppe if there is no other way.

There is very little between cities in Kazakhstan except the glorious steppe, which is great for camping.

There are regular cafes which you could camp close to, but be prepared for noise through the night as lorry drivers pull in.

If you really need a bed / shower then plan your journeys to always stop in cities.

If you speak a bit of Russian you can head to the train station and normally find people advertising apartments for short-term rent.

I know both, there is a little information about accommodation but I'm sure we'll find somewhere near towns or villages, or we''ll camp if there is no other option.

The problem is in 3 stages in which there is nothing apparently, from Shubarkuduk to Astana.
We will decide on the fly

Between Shubarkuduk and Astana, by the logical route, you have Aktobe where there will certainly be a hotel, and I believe there is a highway motel in Qarabutaq.

The shortest route between cities in Kazakhstan is not necessarily the fastest. The road taking you from Atyrau to Shubarkuduk is basically tracks in the steppe, unless things have changed recently.

And does anyone know if it is possible to enter Russia by Aleksehevka? or only by Semey?

Could you give a bit more information? The names of villages either side of the border, or a Google maps point link.

There are many Russia - Kazakhstan crossings, most of them are open to anyone, but some only to locals.

Aleksehevka - Kulunda from Pavlodar to the east, it seems a new crossing border but I have no info about it

That crossing is known as Sharbakty (KZ) / Kulundu (RU). It is not new, and is multilateral (open to foreigners). I crossed it in 2010.

Talked to friends they passed through in August last year said crossings was working 24hr and took them an hour to get through both controls. Came at sunset from rassian side were only 20 cars ahead of them.
