Tyres and oil in Yakutsk
Before heading off on the road of Bones to Magadan next year I want to fit new tyres and do an oil change. I've been advised it may be hard to get the right tyres in Yakutsk for my 790 so the current plan is to take a set with me (yes I know, a pain to carry). However I don't plan to take oil beyond a small amount for topping up (space/weight in luggage).
So, two questions for those folk who know Yakutsk a bit: 1. Where to buy decent oil? I can do the change myself camped by the roadside, I'll bring filters. 2. Best place to change the tyres. I *could* do it myself at a pinch but they are tubeless so I'd rather go to a shop. TIA |

I bought tires from Dean and had them delivered to Yakutsk, this was about 2011 or so. Worked fine. Most def better than carrying them all the way from Europe.

For motoshops in Yakutsk, put this into google:
мото магазин якутск Looks like there are quite a few, but several don't seem to have websites, so you might just need to take the address/coordinates and figure it out once you're there. But I definitely wouldn't count on any of them having the tires you need. |
Another vote here for "dont be silly carrying tyres to Yakutsk - just call Denis (Dean) Panferov and have them shipped there."
For what its worth he will also be able to ship oil there too to save you worrying about it. As for changing the tyres Well anywhere Panferov ships the tyres to will almost surely be a moto shop. So you can have them fitted right there at the same place you pick them up. |
