Taking medicines into Uzbekistan
 

We are planning a trip of 18 months through the stan's etc to Indonesia.
We need some tablets for stomach problems and blood pressure. Does anybody know what amount you would be allowed to take into Uzbekistan with a doctors prescription. Without getting locked up.

I entered UZB in 2102. My condition is diabetic and I had with me pils for 4-5 months.

At the border /customs I explained them my situation and ask them if there is a problem or if they want to see my prescriptions. I had them with me translated in Russian. They said there is no need, it ok.

But that depends on the border crossing and on the mood on the custom officers.

I would take the prescription with me. If you can translate them in uzbeck. UZB officials are not known to be the friendliest in the area.

I am allergic against wasps .

And for this reason I always have some Antihistamine medicine with me.
2 different kind of pills, which I need to swallow immediately.

Before my trip i laminated a pice of paper, where there was the word "Allergic" and the picture of a wasp printed on.

And I crossed into Uzbekistan, and I showed the custom officer my pills and this laminate.
He was friendly, I filled it in the custom form and everything was ok.
So if you ask before, and do not hide any paracodeine ore similar stuff, there should not be any problem.

They were more into searching my laptop if I dont import any pornos.....

We crossed Uzbekistan in 2014, with a lot of pills and stuff - a three months supply of stomach pills for me, and heart pills for my wife. Customs officer was very interested in every single one, but made no problems whatsoever. We had no prescriptions with us, just explained the purpose of every kind of medicine we carried. If language will be a problem, just show to your stomach, heart, etc., but usually there is someone at the border with some basic knowledge of English. It is useful for you to learn a few Russian phrases, as many people there still speak Russian.

They will check your computer too.

And DO DECLARE the cash you are carrying, and have the declaration signed and stamped. At the exit it was the only paper we were asked for.

I do not remember Uzbek police being friendlier or unfriendlier than any other. It is just the way the things are in Central Asia. A bit slower and more complicated procedure than somewhere else. Good thing in Uzb was that we did not have to pay any kind of tax. Be polite, relaxed, smile and you will have no problems at all.

My husband take two medications for high blood pressure.

When we crossed into Uzbekistan (from Kazkahstan) in June 2014, we showed the medicines (3 months supply). We may have had a copy of the prescriptions with us but I can't remember. Nothing translated for sure! They just glanced at our pharmacy bag.

Custom officers were much more interested in looking at the photos in my pocket camera and asking if we had a computer (we didn't).... They got bored quickly. But then we had very little luggage so not much to search.

We met a group of about 12 camper vans and they spent 8 hours at the same border, where custom went through every single cupboard and played with everything (including the horn!) and the computers!

Yes, they search the computers for xxx videos.

At least thats what they told me.
And at exit they asked for my external storage.
Only question was, if I have only selfmade videos from my gopro on the storage, which was ok.

But other videos might cause problem.

Here is some feed back from our topic. Visited Uzbekistan with a couple of months of medicines. We showed them our medical passport from our pharmacy and prescription from our doctor by entry and exit of the country. With these papers we had no problems whatsoever.
Expect delays though; entry from Kazakhstan, Beyneu into Uzbekistan took us 13 hours !!
