Stans in April/May
 

Hey team,

Planning to head up from Iran, through the Stans ending up in Mongolia. The timing looks like a 6 week jaunt from the start April through to mid May. Apart from shivering as much as my DR vibrates will the weather be so bad that heading in this direction is just plain stupid?

April is fairly early I would say. I case you want to try the Pamir road, well... 4600m above sea level in April, Snow is plenty there, avelanges as well. Anything is possible up there in this season...

It depends how high you would go but anything above 3000m is early and could be quite risky, also in Kyrgyzstan.

Depending on how our winter is here in Kyrgyzstan, many of the passes wont be open. 2018 was not too bad but a few years ago the pass to Song-Kul was not open until 1 June.
