Russian bike shipping needed!
I've had a look at the HUBB 'ship your vehicle' forum, but it doesn't seem to have any searchable info for Russia.
My husband has had an accident and is now in hospital in Mariinsk following surgery for a broken leg. We can't ride any further, and need recommendations for English-speaking shippers who operate in Russia and can help us get our bikes home. John's family know, but we have not made this news public on Facebook yet. I know there are a few HUBB members who follow us, but would be grateful if, just for the moment, you don't post anything that might give away our situation to the wider public. Thanks in advance. |
Sorry to hear about your troubles.
I've used this company a few times in the past: Транспортная компания ПЭК - грузоперевозки, доставка и отправка грузов |Транспортные услуги по перевозке грузов I don't know if they speak English, and I don't think they'll ship it all the way home, but they may be able to get it back to Moscow, St Pete, etc. for shipping to the UK. |

I have been told that there is a shipping company locally that can get our bikes to Moscow and, apparently, there is a doctor here who will help organise that. So then it will 'just' be a case of getting the bikes out of Russia and home. I've emailed James Cargo this morning, but if anyone has any other recommendations, they would be welcome. Thanks again. |
OK, good luck; I don't have any experience shipping out of Russia, so can't provide any info there.
Again, sorry to hear about your misfortunes, and I hope that your husband makes a full and speedy recovery. |
Jeez! Just had a quote from James Cargo for £3,000 per bike, airfreight out of Moscow. Apparently, they have had problems with other shipment methods due to corrupt officials, etc.
We have a couple of other contacts but, at those prices, my husband has suggested staying in Moscow until his leg is healed and riding the bikes home!!! |

Hi i will be in Moskau tomorrow to bring a Harley back home. I could fly to russia again to ride your bikes back home as well. Kosts would be 100 Euro for the Visa, 50 for Invitation, 200 Euro flight for me, petrol, hotel and food etc. Just send me a PN if you want then we can arange everything else :-)
http://schoene-motorradreisen.de/?report=russland cu, Tobi P.S. it would be best if you would come as a Sozia on the back of your bike with me to the boarder and then fly back home from Riga... |

Anyway, shipping is no longer a problem. I should have posted an update. John (Roynie to you) had an operation to put a plate in his leg on Wednesday last week and has been told by the surgeon that he will be fit to ride by the end of the month. He will be discharged from hospital next Friday and we have train tickets for Moscow, leaving Saturday afternoon, arriving at sparrow-fart on Tuesday morning. On Friday, I took the bikes to a local shipper, where they will be crated and put on a truck to Moscow, arriving around 24th. So, the plan now is to hole up at our favourite biker motel in Moscow until John's leg is healed and then ride home. Our homecoming will be delayed by a week or two according to the original itinerary, but we aim to complete our "Inagh to China Motorcycle Ride". bier |
Ok, I'll bite--where on earth is "sparrow-fart"? I'll be around in Moscow, if you're up for a beer we can try to meet.
Out of curiosity, what is your favorite biker motel in Moscow? |

We stay at the Night Train Motel, off the Third Ring Road. There are two biker bars within a couple of hundred metres, under the same ownership: the Night Train Bar and the Honky Tonk. Come over and we'll buy you a beer ... or a chai, if you're on the bike. Not the most salubrious of areas, next to the railway sidings, and the motel can be a little noisy at night, so a sense of humour helps. :eek3::rolleyes2: But it's cheap and cheerful ... and fun. :funmeteryes: |
Pleased you're getting things sorted.
