Recent conditions on the Old Summer Road & Tinkinskaya Trassa?
 

Hi All,
I'm a solo rider on route from Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan to Magadan and I am expecting to be in this area about mid July. I'm riding a KLR650.

I'm trying to find recent reports, as in the last 2 or 3 years or so, about the conditions of the Old Summer Road (from Kyubeme to Kadykchan) and the condition of the Tinkinskaya Trassa (from Bolshevik to Palatka).

From what I have read here from posts going back over 12 years or more, the Old Summer Road is not at all maintained and so I'm trying to find out what it is like today. I heard of a couple of guys that did it last year. I know that recent weather plays a large part. I certainly won't do it solo but would consider it if the recent levels of rainfall had been minimal and if I met someone on route willing to partner up with me.

I believe that the Tinkinskaya Trassa is okay and passable, but again I wouldn't mind hearing from someone that has recent experience of it.

Particularly of interest in both routes is the severity of water crossings and whilst I don't mind getting somewhat wet I don't really wish to have my bike and I drowned in water :(

I rode last year the federal highway. Was good all the way.

For the OSM and Tinkinskaya Trassa check on Facebook, Zimmi on the Loose and BAM Riders. They did it last year.

Also contact the guys from Magadan, Polar Owls Club.
