Pamir Highway in October?

Hey everyone,
I'm currently in Iraqi Kurdistan and now in a bit of a decision situation and would need some advice on the following question.

Is October still a month to do the Pamir Highway and the adjacent valleys Wakhan and Bartang? I'm running a bit late and I would like to know how big of a deal that could be.

Would be great to hear first hand from people who did it in October :)
Thanks in Advance!

Are you on a moto or in a 4 wheeler?

I haven't been there in October but I can offer this information:

This was mid August 2016 in the village of Garty Jumbez at 4,000 m., trying to get to Lake Zorkul from Shaymak in the East. The road became impassable and we waited out the weather but finally gave it up.

A few weeks later, still in August, we made it over the pass (4000 m. +) between Sary Tash and Osh in a wet, blinding snowstorm. There was 6 inches of snow on the road, but fortunately it was relatively wet and warm and the car traffic left clear tracks on the road to follow.

About October? I don't know, but I think on a moto I wouldn't plan on it.

Hope this is helpful..............shu

It really helps if you ask more specific questions and describe your situation a bit.

Yes, I have driven the Pamir Highway (and Wakhan route) in October in a 4WD. Up in Karakol it was -15 in the morning, but there was no snow. There was snow on the Kyzyl-Art Pass, but daytime temperatures went above freezing so it did not stay. But weather is fickle, so it could easily be covered in a nice carpet of snow.

Will it be cold? Yes
Will you have to ride on snow? A good chance.
Does the road close, and do the locals go into hibernation or fly south? Of course not.
