Neoprene Fork prrotection in Dushanbe
 

I'm riding a BMW F650GS Dakar (2003), currently I'm in Buxara, heading to Samarkand, Duschanbe and Pamir.

BMW did not put anything to protect my Fork. I bought some rubber gaiters but they are so big that they impair the airflow to the radiator which causes the bike to overheat ( thus I removed them)

I'm afraid of dust and stones hitting the Fork tubes, so I would like to find something to protect them. I thought about some neoprene covers. Does anybody know where I can find them in Buxara, Samarkand or Duschanbe?

Or does anyone have an idea for an alternative protection mechanism?

You might try cutting down the rubber gaiters that are on now- down to about 10 - 15 cm. long and see how that works. You can leave the bottom fastened tight to the forks and put a plastic zip tie around the top to hold it loosely against the fork tube. (That's really all the neoprene guards do anyway.)

If that doesn't work experiment with a section of inner tube in the same way. (the 'boot' doesn't need to be completely sealed, you can slice the tube open and leave the opening in the back of the fork tube.
