Parko

you will find bike shops across Russia. There were Yamaha dealers in Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Moscow, St Petersbug. The BMW dealers could order parts for bikes (2 -3 weeks) but those I visited had never sold one.

These guys are based in St Pete, Moscow and Novosibirsk. There mechanics fixed the bike with a great deal of improvisation and recoursefulness in Novosibirsk. They have a web page

www.nbsmotor.ru

I would heed the advice of those who say prepare well before you go and not wing it like I did..if you can of course. You could get any parts orderred in if you had the time but the Visa constraints mean waiting for parts is difficult.

I would take, spare clutch and throtle cables, a set of steering head bearings, engine gasket set and depending on the bike any unique oil seals. Take spare wheel bearings as well as rough roads can take there toll.

If you cant find a bike shop, find a Russian bike rider, they are great will do heaps to help you out.

cheers

alec

ps shustrik I cant read your post.

If you're having trouble fýndýng býke shops, the larger cities often have bike clubs who will know where to get parts. I know there are bike clubs in Saratov and Volgograd, all the local bikers i met are friendly and more than willing to help.
