Mongolia : visa exemption lifted
 

Hi all, happy New Year, though bad news for those planning to go to Mongolia in 2016 : it seems the visa exemption scheme for 42 countries expired end of 2015 and wasn't renewed. So it would mean that we now need to buy a visa in advance :

VISA FREE COUNTRIES | Иргэний харьяалал, шилжилт хөдөлгөөний ерөнхий газар

That was a smart move to encourage tourism, that's a pretty dumb move. Kaz is moving the other way, having just extended their visa exemption program. Hopefully they'll notice the blunder and pass a new law before the season starts.

Note that for the nationals who were already exempted, like Germans, nothing's changed.

US Citizens can still travel
 

From the list you posted, it appears that USA citizens can still travel in Mongolia without a visa. It looks like the main countries that need to renegotiate the exemption are European countries.
