Mongolia - China border cross on a bike
I am planning to cross from Mongolia to China last point Vietnam. Any advice on border crossing issues are welcome. Contacted Chinese embassy in Ulaanbaatar but they could't give me any information on how to do it. I don't want to risk riding all the way to the border and head back for some paperwork issues. Anyone have done this border cross? Many thanks,:scooter:

Do you have any idea of all the requirements for self driving through China that have to be met usually months in advance? Such as a preapproved itinerary and a guide. And oodles of permits. I believe this is true for motorcycles as well as cars . Your only choice at this point is to ship the vehicle from Mongolia to Vietnam.

There are probably special rules for Mongolian citizens like yourself, but most of us on the HUBB are from other nations. Most of us cannot (legally) cross into China with our own vehicles independently. We need a guide and special permission. You probably will not find the information you need on the HUBB, but we would like to hear about your experience. Let us know how it goes!

Sorry, didn't realize you were Mongolian. And yes the rules might be more lenient but my guess is you will probably be restricted to the border area unless you get a guide and permits and all the other stuff.

I'm really interested in discovering Mongolia like you :)). So may be just wait you come back and update about your trip  I think it's easy to cross the borders without no problem in both Mongolia and China because we are all developing countries that don't have any strict rules like USA or Europe. If you meet anything difficult, just give them the fee instead (try to bargain). If you can not come in Mongolia, you can consider travel Inner Mongolia instead. Basically, it's quite same but Inner Mongolia belongs to China so you do not care about immigration procedures Goodluck man :D |
