Leaving Georgia without the bike - any customs trouble??

Hello Folks,

next week I will fly out of Georgia and leave the bike here before I return one week later. Does anybody has experience in this? Do I have to expect some trouble at the customs? Maybe a special declaration or sth. special?

Thanks for the help!

Alex

If you are flying out via Tbilisi airport, I see no reason why you have to declare anything / fill out any forms. You are not exporting the bike when you leave nor importing it when you return and there are no customs forms required for a personal exit / entrance in Georgia. I know of bikes which remain here over winter and there is no paperwork done.

Thanks a lot!

It's very useful to have this assurance. Currently in Turkey waiting for the winter to stop, planning to visit family but looks like will have to wait till we're in Georgia around Feb as it looks like from Georgia there's no fuss at all. Thanks

Confirmed, no problems in Kutaisi airport with bike left in Georgia:)

... although airport stuff may be difficult when trying to bring chain and sprockets back on a plain. :oops2:

Hi, any problems with spareparts import? I'm flying back to Georgia in 4 weeks to pick up my bike, and will bring new tyres, chain + lots of other parts.. Do you think I will have any problems with customs?
Thx :)
Michael

This lot went to Georgia last year with me, off course chains should not be in hand luggage ect ect and only main luggage

However they said one item only and wanted me to pay extra for each tire when i was leaving London which was nearly half the price of my flight :eek3:

Well i sorted that one with some gaffer tape :innocent:

Thanks a lot Wesley, thats great to hear! Love your photo - a real bikers way to fix a problem ;) I'll be sure to wrap it all up in one package...
One thing less to worry about - I like that :)
Cheers
