Leaving a motorcycle in Ulaanbaatar?
 

Hi all,

I'm currently in Tajikistan and am still searching for a place to leave the bike.

I've read many threads on here about shipping the bike from Ulaanbaatar but how about storing a bike in Ulaanbaatar? I'm hoping to find a decent place to store it for a year or two without getting caught up in legal concerns.

Any ideas?

I know, I know, this thread is pretty old, but perhaps worth a bump. Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm half tempted to ride there in 2014 (from the UK) and then leave the bike there till May 2015 and ride it back. Is it feasible?

Yes

Ask at the Oasis, as long as you have no other Person were you can leave it.

Then you have to go to the customs and pay about 20 % of what the bike is worth as a deposit.
You should get that back when you travel out again, but usually they try to betray you.

So you need a person which s mongolian to help you, then you get the money back.

I was also thinking in my planing about leaving it there ( but I decided to drive home )
In my case i would have had mongolian relatives to check that.
So it is possible, but a hassle without help there.

I know that some people store their bike at oasis at the moment.

So they do that.
